Good location. Close to shops, restaurants, bus. The maintenance man is great. If you tell him something's wrong, he'll quickly fix it. Although, I lived there for 3 years and had nothing but problems.
The roaches were a never ending nightmare, no matter how clean you keep it. Then there were a lot of buildings with bed bug infestations. We had to go through inspections, which is a pain having to move all the furniture. Scary thought that we could get them any time. Eww!
The walls are so thin, I could hear my neighbors snoring at night. I could hear every move the people above me made and I could hear the little girl downstairs with the violin (awful), other neighbor's Mariachi music and more. I could hear my neighbors talking when they were in the bathroom while I was. There's not a moments peace during waking hours.
The laundry room was pretty creepy. Big room with only 2 washers & 2 dryers. It was very difficult to get time in, and sometimes people take your stuff out and put their's in. It's so disgusting, some stranger touched my clothes. Half the time either a washer or dryer was broke, or both (water all over the floor). One dryer stole quarters.
A huge branch broke off and was leaned up on a tree. It remained there for at least 2 years (it was still there when I left).
Some units have dishwashers and thermostats, while others do not. The rent is the same. It sucks not having a thermostat. They burn you out in the winter with way too much heat (probably because the windows are very drafty). In the summer the AC is cranked way up freezing me out. I hated it. I could never be comfortable in summer or winter.
Layton Hall is a great deal on rent, but you get what you pay for. ---- is nice, to your face.
