It's old, but very clean. A good basic apartment. Haven't had any problems other than normal maintenance issues. Neighbors are nice. It's not fancy, but it's clean and cheap. Parking is plentiful and I like being next to the police station and shopping center.

I agree with all the good things mentioned in this post, but I would give a very SERIOUS WARNING that many buildings in the Layton Hall Apartment complex are infested with COCKROACHES and BED BUGS. The Department of Health has visited on multiple occasions to investigate this. As the reviewer correctly notes, the rent is cheap. The reason, of course, is that there is a good chance that your unit will be flooded with bugs and your furniture and beds will be contaminated with bed bugs, and eventually, will need to be thrown away.

In response to the bed bug and roach complaints...have any of you checked out other apartment places in Fairfax City? I lived in another property about 5 miles from here and the problem was even worse. A good friend of mine lives in alother property where the bedbugs are in EVERY apartment. I think the office staff is great and the efforts they are going through to get this problem under control is definately note worthy. I have lived here for about 3 years and am not going anywhere. You all have to remember this is an apartment and with that comes other people issues. If you do not want to deal with them....get a house.

The above comment is simply untrue. Someone wants you to believe that you have to live in filth. You don't. I have lived in other nearby buildings with comparable prices that are much much better. While I appreciated the office staff's efforts, the bug problem will never be "under control" because the infestation is too extensive. Sorry, Layton Hall managers, I am smart enough to do the math: if a building has had bedbug and roach problems for years now, odds are that you are either completely mismanaging the extermination efforts (quite possible, despite your good intentions) or that the problem is too severe to be corrected. Stop trying to defend the indefensible and let the people speak the truth.
