Worst rental experience I have ever had

The office staff are very friendly and helpful.. that is until you move in. This has been the worst living situation I have ever been in by far. Within the first 6 months of my lease my apartment flooded, both the washer and dryer broke, the toilet broke, the ceiling began to leak due to the apartment above me having a defective ac unit and to top it all off the flooding caused mold to grow on the walls. The maintenance staff are not only unprofessional and creepy but also seem completely unqualified to service any of the appliances in the unit. After a faulty washer led to the entire apartment flooding in the middle of the night the management had several large industrial air-blowers put under the carpet to "dry it out" instead of replacing it. They did not reimburse me for the several hundred gallons of water that leaked onto the floor nor the electricity used to run these dryers for almost a week. Any time I had a problem I dreaded calling them as they act is if they are doing you a favor by fixing the cheap appliances and fixtures when they inevitably break. The parking is ridiculous and they towed a friends car within 15 minutes of him parking in a non-guest spot. The gates are always open at random times and when they actually do work they are disgustingly slow. If all this wasn't bad enough the cable and internet is provided only by a single unknown backyard cable company that provides speeds close to dialup for double the price of dsl and tv signal that is laughable (just a large directv satellite dish split up to the entire property). I am ending my lease early and getting the hell out of here at the end of this month and will never look back.

In response to this post, I would like to clear up a few issues that are very misleading. It is true that there was a leak caused by the above apartment, completely out of the control of the office. A service technician responded immediately and contractors were contacted to begin work. The situation was properly and professionaly taken care of in a timely matter. Our service technicians took every appropriate measure within the strict standards of Lincoln to make sure that this apartment was taken care of and restored as quickly as possible to restore the comforts of home to our residents. This same measure of courtesy and timeliness is taken with any incident such as this one.
As for your water and electric reimbursement, I am not sure why this is being brought up on apartment ratings as the office has never ever heard about this being an issue. You cannot expect us to help you with an issue if you do not tell us.
As for your mold issue, this was only told to us after
you disagreed with a policy regarding breaking your lease. Once you did bring this up, a service technician was immediately called out to your apartment to check on this. The area was thoroughly checked and pictures were taken to show there was absolutely no mold at all in your apartment, an issue obviously brought up simply because you did not feel you should be made to follow policy.
In response to the cable company, letters have been sent regarding Cox currently laying lines to be the cable provider so I am also unsure why this is an issue for you.
The opening and closing time of the gates is normal. NO, the gates are not opened and closed at random times. They are open Monday through Saturday from 8:00am - 6:00pm for rush hour traffic as well as for UPS, FedEx, and other deliveries. If the gates are open at any other time, it is because they were hit by a car or because of inclement weather.
As for breaking your lease, you told the office and produced documents that showed you needed to leave becuase of a job transfer and not because of any error on our part.
And lastly, this post about how horrible the office is was only posted after the remaining late rent was dropped into the office this morning. We strive to make our community a beautiful and enjoyable one for our residents. We do not think it is fair that we do our best to try to make every resident happy and, in response, our property and our staff is insulted. Please do not come on apartment ratings and post misleading and insulting information about us simply because you do not feel as though you should be made to follow the rules. If you are going to post information, make sure that you have your facts straight and that you are posting the whole truth.
Thank you.

I think it's hilarious that you come on here to defend The Lincoln and yet post anonymously, why don't you sign your name and show some accountability for your statements? I especially liked this one "the situation was properly and professionaly taken care of in a timely matter" properly and professionally, timely matter(manner?)... and in who's opinion would this be? Obviously you are part of the leasing office staff, quite possibly the completely unhelpful manager whom I spoke to a few days ago, but how can you make statements about something you never saw first hand? Who is posting misleading information now? I like how you pretend to care when issues are posted publicly but when speaking to you one on one you seem like you could care less. Oh and on a side note I never authorized anyone to come into my apartment to check for mold nor was informed anyone would come. If I had been notified maybe I could have actually BEEN HOME at the time to show the tech where to look. Lastly all this talk about complaints being made to avoid following some asinine policy put in place to rob tenants blind when they try to move out of this hell hole is nothing more than a poor excuse for not being proactive in making sure your tenants are taken care of when issues do arise.

Yeah, I agree about the gates. Why bother having them if you won't close them? Post Forest always closes theirs. We need to know our apartments are safe when we're at work during the day. And putting in Cox cable will definitely help. But everything else the dude said in his review is crazy. Good for you, management, for speaking up. But close the gates!!!

i am looking into this complex...in fact it is one of the finalist. I have found this post helpful. Yes, the complaints from daxguy were helpful, but the response from the lincoln representative was most helpful. Like daxguy said...why post anyonymous when they clearly stated they were/are a Lincoln employee? I found the comments from Lincoln representative extremely combative and defensive. I've made a living from customer service, and it is not good practice to "argue" complaints...especially in a public forum. Been my experience that you are much better off addressing the issue with the unhappy customer then publicly posting the faults of the unhappy customer. Grantid this post was almost 2 years ago, so I will keep that in mind while deciding, but I will have a hard time forgetting that a Lincoln employee PUBLICLY called one its customers a liar and disputed the claims versus addressing them.
