Oakton Park Apartments
AVERAGE RATING

I really liked living there. The apartments were clean, no bugs or anything. Parking was an issue if I didn't come back at a decent hour. The office staff was really nice. They warned us about having parties, but we had parties all the time and no one ever complained. Rent was cheap and the apartments were close to everything, 66 and GMU. The only reason I left is because I transferred to a different college. I would definitely recommend living there if you're not extremely picky.

The management needs to stop going on here and writing fake user reviews. It???s obvious that the majority of the residents are dissatisfied with the standard of living in this complex and with the office employees. It???s also very apparent that Dreyfuss Brother???s Inc only cares about your money and once you are thoroughly settled in do not expect to ever get their attention again. The employees are rude and unapproachable, and the management company is impossible to reach. I have tried to send a complaint via their website and my e-mail was returned with an error message that indicated the mailbox either does not exist or is no longer active. The only redeeming aspect of Oakton Park is the price, yet considering the age of the building, and the history of crime in this area, I???m surprised that the rent still increases on a yearly basis. They are also very secretive about the whole crime issue, and will dismiss it as an over-exaggeration by the media. The only source I had to the whole pant-puller of the neighborhood incident were the police investigators and the local news trucks. It is truly frightening to know that any of your neighbors could be rapists or sex offenders, and that the management company is doing little to nothing to protect your life or your rights. I am shocked that something like this has gone on for as long as it has, especially since this complex is surrounded by very clean, affluent neighborhoods.
Besides all this, I have also found the carpeting to be of very poor quality, which creates a lot of dust throughout the apartment and makes it hard to breathe, especially if you have allergies. I recommended that you purchase an air-purifier if you plan to live at Oakton Park, and a good vacuum cleaner. The bathroom tiling needs to be changed, and looks disgustingly dirty even after hours of cleaning. The water pipes are rusting and will leave stains all over your bathroom as well as your kitchen wear. The parking is an issue only if you are plan on having guests, so if you plan to live here, prepare to have absolutely no social life (or else pay the ludicrous prices for towing).
