Yo!

My stay at oakton park

I lived in Oakton Park for 16 months. There are so many little things wrong with the complex it makes living there a horrible experience. When I was searching for an apartment, I just looked at the price. I soon learned that was a mistake. If you are looking for somewhere that is cheap and has four walls, then Oakton Park is great. If you want more, then you should look elsewhere.

The advertisement boasts close to 66. Yes, you are so close to 66 that you can hear the car traffic at all times.

The advertisement boasts it is close to a bus stop. Depending on where you are in the complex, the walk can be up to a mile.

The parking is horrible. The towing is crazy. There is hardly any visitor parking. What little visitor parking there is, is taken by people who live there without being on a lease. My friends have been towed while in a visitor spot and no they had not been in the spot more than three days. I will say that I never had a problem getting a guest parking pass for long term guests.

The laundry facility is a joke. There is only 2 washers and 2 dryers for each building. Half the time they do not work. The other half of the time, people leave clothes in them for hours on end. The price is outrageous as well. Three dollars to wash and dry one load. However, the are offering to put a washer and dryer in your apartment for a monthly fee of 75 or 80 dollars. That is a rip off. Does anyone really wash 26 loads of laundry a month' That is the amount of loads of laundry you would have to wash in a month just to break even.

Most of the time, the grounds are covered in animal feces from tenant's animals. The management's remedy for this was threatening a 50 dollar fine if you are caught not picking the feces up. Yeah, I bet that works well. Also, I have seen people with pit bulls living in the apartment complex. So if you have children, be careful.

The plumbing is horrible. Every faucet in my apartment leaked as well as the dishwasher. You can hear when anyone in the apartment building takes a shower. The water in the shower is either so hot that it burns or so cold you can not shower. There is no in between. Also, the water leaves a red film on the bathtub and anything that holds water for a period of time.

The apartment themselves are large and you do get a lot of space for your money. The walls have been repainted so many times, you can put something next to it and the paint comes off. The carpet is cheap and soaks up any kind of spill. The screen door to the balcony is so old it hardly works. That was not just in mine. I have been to multiple apartments that had the same problem with their screen doors.

They have problems with the power going out. It happened multiple times where the electricity would only work in parts of the apartment. They randomly shut the water and heat off citing construction work; however, it seems nothing is getting fixed. Since utilities are included in the rent, they control when the air and heat are turned on. If there is a heat spell in the middle of winter or a cold spell during spring or summer, the apartment could be a freezer or an oven. There is only one ceiling fan in the apartment, so when the heat or air is shut off the apartment can get stuffy and stale smelling. In my apartment, there was no overhead lighting in the bedroom or living room.

One good thing is the large mirror in the tiny bathroom. It made it feel larger.

So, if you can deal with the problems I had during my stay at the "OP", then you should rent from them. If not, find something else even if you have to spend more money. It will be worth it in the end. Also, I would like to say that the ladies in the office are nice and will work with you. I never had any problem that they did not help with. It is just the apartments themselves that are not worth the money. uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax
