Penderbrook Apartments is a terrible place to live. First of all, as you can see, the rent is outrageous, even for that area. The completely charmless cookie cutter McMansion design of the entire neighborhood is enough to drive anyone crazy. Our apartment was riddled with small problems you shouldn't have when you're paying that much (no hot water, bad water pressure, etc.) and they were never fixed. The apartments are filled with exactly the sort of psuedo-yuppie scum you'd expect. Our downstairs neighbor played muzak at a volume that shook the glasses in our cabinets, while the upstairs neighbors beat each other and their kid up all the time. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I (who were rarely home and usually ate dinner, read for a while, and went to sleep) were very upset when the office began contacting us over and over again about noise complaints THOSE neighbors were giving us! My car was hit in the parking lot less than four times in a year, not to mention the infinite number of door dings from the tiny parking spaces. Then, after all this (and them sucking us for money in any way possible i.e. $450 non refundable pet deposit - per pet plus monthly pet rent per pet) we told 30 days before our lease ended that we were leaving at the end of our lease. They tried to make us pay an additional month's rent ($1220) because they require 60 days notice to cancel your lease. We insisted that we were not cancelling our lease so this did not apply. They continued to harass us until we contacted an attorney who informed us (and them) that they had no case. It was a horrible experience.
