bit pricey; helpful staff, nice amenities

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
My wife and I have been living here for about 15 months. We recently renewed our lease. Note there are 2 kinds of apartments here: garden style opens to the air and is all stairs but a little cheaper. mid-rise is more like a hotel with an elevator. we rent mid-rise and really like it.
Main observations...
Good:
Staff is particularly friendly and helpful.
Abundance of garage parking (for $25 extra/month)
Convenience for Metro (5-10 minutes)
Good neighbors - lots of families, not too rowdy, place stays clean and neat.
gym though small is convenient and neat, racquetball court rumored to be going away but good for now.
little things - cookies and lemonade and newspapers in clubhouse, moving in and birthday gifts, staff who know your name, etc.
Not so good:
- Floors/ceilings not very thick - rowdy kids upstairs in our case are a problem.
- Expensive. If I wanted to move in toward Merrifield or out to Fair Lakes, I expect could get the same space for $100-200 less.
- If you don't have $25 garage parking, you're likely to park 1-2 dozen spaces away from where you want to be.
bottom line - we planned on moving out to save a little $$ but they've got us spoiled enough here that we stayed.
