Terrible Mold Problems

About a month after we moved in we started noticing an overpowering odor coming from the air conditioning unit. I also developed some serious allergic reactions (itching, rash, etc). We called maintenance, and they told us they noticed no smell. Suspicious, we opened the vent. The entire inside of the unit was covered in mold. We called the maintenance company back, and they arrived with a can of air freshener (!) to fix the problem. After threatening to pursue legal action, they reportedly cleaned the unit and 'solved' the problem. 3 days later the smell is back.
The management company seems to insist that nothing is wrong. When you add this to the problems of noisy neighbors, problems with the air conditioning/heating unit, a broken icemaker and a broken garbage disposal, it makes me wonder why we are paying so much money to live here. We are breaking our lease and moving out. Maybe we have just had bad luck, but I wouldn't recommend this God forsaken place to anyone. Avoid at all costs.
