Overall Great Complex with Few Negatives

Although we have only been living here for 6 months we have had no major problems so far. We have not had to contact maintenance for anything so I am unable to give an accurate review on it. The area is clean and the grounds are consistently well maintained. The apartment is nice, spacious and all appliances work.
There are a few suggestions I have if you are planning on living here. It is extremely close to metro and although the area is safe, you should be very aware when walking through the complex. I have a dog and one night when my mother was taking her outside, a man attempted to come after her. She ran so we are not aware of what he looks like or exactly what he would have done but we assume he is no good considering he was hiding in the bushes waiting. When we alerted the apartment complex, they said that various things like that had been happening lately and that was the end of that. Needless to say I now watch every dark corner and listen for any odd noises whenever I go outside and I do find myself quickly running to my apartment from my car. So my first suggestion is to have a plan for these metro creeps or at least a way to avoid them (tazor maybe).
Another thing is this community is largely diverse but mostly Asain Americans. As my neighbors, I needed to communicate with them at various times however I found that their English skills are not the best and found a hard time doing so. Most of my neighbors are not the most polite people either, consistently opening their car doors into mine and not giving the friendly "hello" that many neighbors do. So there is my second suggestion, be prepared to not have the most friendly environment and a possible language barrier with many neighbors.
Last major suggestion for this apartment complex is to do a complete runthrough of the apartment you are planning on moving into and look for any flaws. Test appliances, check lights and look under anything for stains or other flaws. They will fix these things prior to your move-in but you must point them our first. This suggestion however could be viewed at as just a general suggestion for all apartments.
We have not experienced anything wrong and yes it is pricey but the location (less then half a mile away from 66 and the metro)is supreme and the apartments are nice. We opted to pay the higher costs for this apartment because we refused to deal with the roach infested and not maintained apartments that fill fairfax. It is worth the money personally and I would recomend it to individuals and families looking for an apartment with privacy, well maintained but do not care too much about a community environment.
