This place is a good compromise.

Negatives: We had a mouse (cat caught it), but the management was very prompt about helping with the problem. We also had problems with ants, but again, it is expected for an older building, and management has been very aggressive in trying to fix it. The big negative for me is the fact that you can't walk to stores / cafes, the same way you can in Courthouse / Clarendon. Metro station is 20 mins away normal walk - ok if you don't haul a 7 lbs laptop and accessories, and if the weather permits. Don't rely on public transportation though - there is no bus line running to East Falls Church metro, in case conditions make walking hard. We had some bad experiences with the building A/C system - it brings in a stale smell from one of our chain smoking neighbors and the filters are not very efficient at filtering out years of dust deposits on the ducts.

Positives: Everything is close by car - including a strip mall filled with bare essentials - Target, Shoppers, etc. Big plus - locked tennis court that was just redone. This is rarely used - more tennis time for me! Apartment is big (2 bdrm / 2 baths at more than 1100 sqft) and has big windows, and the balcony is a nice extra. Price is decent for the area, and you don't get charged extra for pets, parking or other things. I don't recall having to pay a move-in fee and the rent increase this last year was modic.

Bottom line - this worked for us for almost two years. If you like it urban - there are better choices. If you would like semi-suburban - close to every place in NoVA / DC where a consultant might work - kind of place - definitely recommend.
