NO WAY!

I've lived here for about 8 mo. and have had problems from day one. So here it is, the bad, the ugly, and the good. For those who may not speak English, el apartmento no es bueno, es muy mal! No me gusta. Ud. no gusto tambien.

Starting out, the apartment wasn't painted well. No big problem you say' Think again...I'm not picky, but when you paint the over outlits so you can't plug anything in, over doors so they can't open anymore...there's a big problem. The cable guy couldn't even get to the cables to hook it up, as the door was painted solidly shut! Maintence couldn't even get it open, a friend had to help, along with the cable guy. Also, the dishwasher didn't work. They did put in a new one, so I'll give them credit for that.

Next, the stove broke. Didn't light at all. Took them two months, with me calling a few times a week, explaing over and over what the problem was, having to research the possible remedies, for it to be fixed. Still, one burner doesn't work but I'm afraid if I call them back out, I'll lose the whole thing. Again. The smoke detector broke also, along with the blinds in the bedroom which can crashing down on my head when I tried to get it to go up. Let me tell you, those things are heavy. Luckily, my cat wasn't underneath. That took three calls to have them put it back up as I couldn't lift it, meanwhile I had the bedroom window open to the world, making it hard to get dressed in the morning. Office staff isn't exactly rude, but they aren't very helpful, don't always understand what you're saying, and it takes endless calls and reminders to have things fixed. Also, after maintence comes in they often leave all the lights on and the door unlocked. Why the lights need to be left on I don't know, and it't certainly not safe to leave the door unlocked!!

A problem that's never been fixed is the hot water: In the shower there often isn't any.

People around here mostly do not speak English. One or two, but that's about it. Most are immagrints, one or two white people. Some look at you weird if you're white, but as far as I've seen, everyone leaves everyone else alone. If you speak some Spanish, could be helpful if you decide against all reason to live here.

Parking is ok, as long as you don't have guests as they now say you have to pay for visitor passes, and can only get one a month which is only good for a week. Also, the spaces are VERY VERY small. Large cars end up taking up two spaces. Your car will be dented.

Noise isn't too bad, unless someone is playing music loudly, slamming doors or talking loudly in the halls/stairs as all the sound travels up the stairs and through the doors. Also, all sound travels through the windows so in the summer or nice weather you can hear everything.

There's often smells of burnt rubber from people driving fast then breaking hard on the street, or people cooking odd things traveling under the door.

The laundry room has two washers and two dryers, which don't always work, for the whole building.

The windows and sliding door aren't insulated so cold air and heat does go through them. If people are outside smoking, you smell it.

There's no overhead lights in the bedroom, or fan. Also no heating duct in the bathroom so you freeze in there in the winter. No outlits in the bathroom either, so don't expect to plug anything in.

Cabinets, stove, refrigerator, faucets, etc. are all OLD. Some have new, but you pay alot more for it.

When you take a shower, the water continues to flow out the tub faucet, not just the shower head, so if you like to shower with more than a trickle, by the time you're done you'll have enough water in the tub to take a bath. It doesn't drain, the plumbing etc. is just too old. Also, see above, cold water showers.

Yes, it's close to the Metro Bus. But the bus doesn't run according to schedule. Sometimes it's on time, sometimes early sometimes late, sometimes it doesn't show up. If you plan to rely on it...don't. You will be screwed three ways till Sunday.

People park along the road into the complex. It's hard to see around to get in and out. Getting out of the complex isn't easy at times because of traffic, you just can't turn. Once you get to Rt 7, the lights are long so yet again, you can't turn. Be prepared to wait. And wait. And wait...

The pet policy is good, $150 flat fee, one time only. Apartments are decent size, good natural lighting. Good closet space. I haven't had any safety problems, it's lit well enough. It's in a nice enough area, close to restaurants, the metro, grocery stores, Tyson's Center.

So in short...RUN!
