Expensive, but worth it...

This is my favorite of the three apartments I've lived in in the area. It's expensive, but probably still worth it.

Pros:

-Nice property manager (Lisa): It's a big plus if the people you deal with are friendly. I can tell you from past experiences, that's not always true.

-Location: Near the intersection of 495 and 66, you're close to several grocery stores, a mall (Tyson's) a gym (Gold's), two airports (Dulles and Reagan).

-Neighbors: Perhaps due to the high rent, neighbors tend to be fairly clean, friendly, and polite. Plenty of young people.

-Controlled Access: If this is important to you, the management seems to go to efforts to keep the buildings fairly safe.

-Parking: While not perfect, there is generally enough, especially on the North side of the complex. This is rarely the case in the DC metro region.

-Apartment Layouts: Apartments seem thoughtfully planned with decent light, closet space, etc.

In the Middle:

-Apartment quality: The look is nice, but like all apartments, they skimp on quality in some places. Get a fourth floor apartment or risk constantly hearing your neighbors above through what I found to be very thin ceilings. Walls, however, seem to be thick, as I have never heard a neighbor on the same floor.

-Amenities: Gym is small, but so is the community, so it is rarely crowded. Pool is also fairly small, although I've never actually used it. They no longer bake cookies for the guests every day :-(

Cons:

-Garages: The doors seem to break often. Also, they are very noisy, so living directly above one can be excruciating.

-Price: Pretty high for no walking metro access or close proximity to downtown.

-Highway Noise: You're almost sitting on 495, so there is some highway noise. Noise-absorbing walls help some, but they really need to extend farther North.

-Elevators: Clean, well-lit, and fairly large, but quite slow.
