Merrill House - was good but now falling apart around us.

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
This building was in much better condition 2 years ago when I first moved in. The office staff is friendly and helpful, but their hands are usually tied by the higher ups in AIMCO (largest apartment management company in the country). Despite how clean I am I have recently had a resurgence of cockroaches, adult and babies. There has been a water leak in my bedroom ceiling for 3 years and they only way they fix it is by sanding it down and re-plastering it. Never actually fixed the part of the roof that was causing the leak, so there is most likely massive amounts of mold spores inside the ceiling. I mentioned my concern about the mold and it was ignored. Most likely due to how expensive it is to have someone test for mold. It is a very old building, but the location is fantastic. You get what comes with an old building. It does seem like AIMCO isn't putting anything into the place anymore. The utility company seems to be raping us on our bills and we as tenants really have no control over it. The worst part is that they control the heat and ac (even though we have to pay for it now) and during the months of April and May the temp in your apartment can get oppressive and unlivable.
Over all I have enjoyed my stay there, and fell in love with Falls Church.
