I only loved if for a month

I've lived here for about 2 months now and I loved it at first, but now I'm not so sure. The apartment is beautiful, the balcony and living space are so big compared to many others I have seen, the office staff is nice, and I've seen a couple of bugs in the basement hallways but not much else.

My major problem is that I was led to believe that this was a secure building with a secure parking garage and that is NOT the case. The security at the desk are nice people but I've never seen them stop anyone to ask who they are. They don't seem to watch the monitors to see what's going on around the building and they don't patrol areas without cameras - I've even seen a couple of people just sit at the desk and read a book.

The parking garage is a whole other story for me! There is no security. The doors you drive into require a pass to open, so they are usually just locked in the "open" position. Thanks to this, I assume, my car and 14 others were broken into while I was out of town last week. Thank goodness I got the best of it! The theives pulled my window out instead of breaking it and my stereo was the only thing there to steal. Other cars had broken windows and slashed tires.

I am just so disappointed. Where I live is one of the only areas in my life where I'm willing to spend much money because it should be worth it. I do not feel safe here. The stereo that was stolen was just a basic CD player that my boyfriend got me for my birthday last year and I waited a long time to actually have a working cd player in my car. Now I don't even want to replace it. If you could see my car, you would be shocked that they even bothered with it! The police have been wonderful (except for the part where they broke into my car to take fingerprints and left it unlocked all night - good thing there was nothing left to steal, though my umbrella WAS still in there) and have put pressure on ST to add cameras and fix the doors. Too bad that it's no use. I got home on Saturday and have bugged them every day since to fix the doors and still nothing. They claim that today is the day but when I left this morning they were still "broken". For what they charge for parking - PER MONTH! - and rent, this is ridiculous. At other apartments I have paid $25 - $100 a year and have never had this happen. I think that burglarized cars are the lease of the worries at ST. I worry about what could have happened if I had walked up on the thieves, what other crimes could be committed (drug use/deals, rape, assault, or worse), or that criminals could just walk into the building and do what they want so easily.

So if you hear someone walking into the garage yelling "Nobody knows if I even live here! Thank goodness these doors are wide open so I can just walk in and committ crimes if I want to!!", you'll know that's me. I'm not crazy, just angry! Too bad that this happened right after 30 days passed, or I would totally have been out of here. I have very serious doubts about renewing my lease next year.

Edited to add: I went to the office last night and pretty much told "too bad" and that they can't guarantee safety and these things happen. The woman was missing the point - I'm not expecting a guarantee, I'm expecting them to provide what they promise in their ads - secure building, secure parking!

Yep ... I was there a year and moved out because of security and cleanliness issues. They don't care, cars are constantly broken into, gangs rome the parking areas and halls at night (Kids and adaults), ... I am paying more just down the block --- here it is clean, quiet, and secure. Like you, I was FOOLed by the false sence of security Skyline leverages ... I bought a stero I could pull out of my car after a month there.

I, too, lived there and moved out. Skyline has serious security issues, especially since they are renting to anyone. You should have been warned about the gang problems there. Good luck with getting management to do anything. The doors have been broken since before I moved in and they were still broken when I left. I reported it when I moved in and followed up with them every month. Nothing was done. Be very careful. There are other serious problems at Skyline. But, as their accountant said, they are filling up the place with anyone because of their plans to sell the building. So, they will not be spending money to fix anything. Your best solution is to move out. I did - as well as many others who broke their leases to get out - and I'm very, very happy at my new place.

Look let's be clear. Yes criminals hit where they can target people, but this place fosters criminals. In fact, moany of the criminals live in the freakin building. As far as getting a "vibe" as rationalizing Anti American statements , this is just another example why the people that live in that dump dont deserve any better, and arguably, they deserve much worse if they sympathize with Al Quds, Hamas, Hizbollah, or any other of those barbarian ilk. The person who wrote "Death to America" should return to the God forsaken barbaric sandbox of a nation that he/she came from. The only kind of "vibe" they woulud have gotten from the person was/is that he/she was NOT a terrorist sympathizer, hence the chant. Many of these people come from nations where they teach their children hatred of Non Muslims, and some even pray daily with some demonic mantra of "Death to America". Those that rationalize that kind of sentiment , are on watch, as well they should be! I love the Helicopters that fly around that building. Lord knows how many Evil Infidel terrorist lovers live in that dump.

I wrote the response about the "vibe" in reply to another response from a crazy racist. I did not say "Death to USA." The other person said that someone said that to them, which I find highly unlikely or said as a bad "joke" because the person was being as obviously crazy-racist-like as they were in their response. As I already said, the people in the building are very friendly and there is no reason to say that people of other nationalities living there is justification to give ST a bad review. The building & management provide enough reasons for bad review on their own without the crazy racists making things up.
