I REALLY wish I went here to read reviews before I moved into this place. I moved to ST in February and I've been nothing but disappointed with everything! The only good thing is the apartments are spacious, but for the amount of rent they charge the place should be A LOT cleaner and SAFER! And whenever they can, they'll try to get money out of you. Extra $ for parking, extra $ to let you in if you lock yourself out. And you have no choice, the door locks behind you. I'm sorry, but I think I can be responsible for myself and make sure I lock my door when I leave my apartment. My rent-a-car got towed in a matter of 20 minutes. Even when you need maintenance and you tell them you want to be home when someone comes in, they just go in anyway! I've had maintenance people in my apartment about 4 times since February, all when I wasn't there even though when I signed the lease I checked off that I'd rather be home when maintenance is required. The management sucks and the place is not clean or secure. I'm desperate to get out of my lease. Has anyone gotten out of their lease from Skyline' How did you do it'

I can only tell you it gets worse. Read all the reviews, especially the writer who wrote "What You Should Know", etc. I also wanted to be present when someone entered my apartment. They promised they would notify me so I could be present but did not. They treated my apartment like a train station, damaged my things, went through my things, left a mess, etc. Another tenant had his ID stolen and $15,000.00 charged to his credit cards. Most of us broke our leases by going to attorneys since Skyline breached the agreement by not providing the services/security they promised. Be very careful, after you give them notice to vacate, they try to get you to prepay for final utilities. Do not prepay anything. They violate VA laws in regards to the security deposits. We all had problems with that. Luckily, we were warned about it and did not prepay. They then threaten you. Just make sure you have your attorney ready.

Also you might consider mentioning that the building has many tenants that are part of a "religious group" (about 2 miles away) that supports their "Leader's" views that " people that commit adultery should be killed", and that "anyone that converts(from Islam)to another religion should be killed". Talk about "security issues!" According to this kind of barbarism, if you hear your neighbor getting murdered, and you know that he/she is committing "adultery", you should not only refrain from calling the police, but believe that this is "Just". Who in their right mind would wish to live with that kind of barbarian mentality?

Thanks for the advice on the leasing issues. I figured I'd have to get a lawyer if I want out. I've also had an experience with some sort of religious group (or something like that.) My boyfriend who lives with me was stopped in the basement hallway by a middle-eastern dude. He gave him a CD and tried recruiting him for "something". My boyfriend didn't really give me any details and we threw the CD away so I don't know exactly what that was all about. I'm in no way a predujice person at all, and my bf is Puerto Rican, but I don't feel comfortable with ANYONE that tries to push their religion or fanatical views on people. We saw this dude in the elevator and my boyfriend avoided him and we caught the next one. He said he REALLY tried to tell the guy that he wasn't interested but he said the guy was nice but persistant. If anything, that's just annoying. I don't want to deal with that in my own home. I REALLY don't like the fact that they enter when I'm not home when I've told them more than once that I want to be home when they come in. I like to give every human being the benefit of the doubt, but I'm sure Skyline doesn't pay these maintenance people very well, and times is hard...it's definitely possible that they could steal. I don't want to take my chances. Them coming in without my permission could be one of the things I could use as breach of lease, I suppose.
