I have lived in the south tower for almost two and a half years. So, I've been here with the change of companies from the Fairfield company. I have never had a mouse or rat problem, let alone see one in the hallway or what not. I think the biggest problem is people that don't have the same cleanliness standards as others. This place is definetly not the gutter, like everyone says. I mean, management has completely redone the lobby, I've noticed the hallways are MUCH cleaner than they have been with the other really LAZY cleaners. I'm actually able to talk to the manager and general manager and that's something I've never been able to do with the Fairfield company. They've also redone the fitness center. I've noticed a lot of changes. I've also seen what looks like people at the higher level several times in the last month. Now, I'm not too thrilled about the south tower basement, but I can't smell it in the fitness center and the loading docks are not always open! Yes, sometimes management is hard to get to, but everyone in the office really does try to help. Ive had a few blips in accounting, but they've gotten settled in a timely manner because I TOOK INITIATIVE! They're very aware of the problem, apparently and again, I have notice changes and BIG ones. I think this problem has been happening since Fairfield from what I'm gathering from my neighbors. And people, come on! Racist comments'' Talk about ignorance. It makes me sad that I have neigbors like this. Like someone said, this is D.C. guys. It's multi cultural and that's part of the great vibe it has. Get out of your damn small mind mentality. You sound stupid and rediculous.

I think you are basically ignorant, unaware of the magnitude of the problem, and have little experience dealing with Equity. How would explain the fact that Equity refused to have a certified return receipt letter delivered multiple times(USPS regulations state that the sender may not request redeliveries)? Its been my experience that it is a legal ploy so that one must resort to a process server. How do you explain receiving multiple letters with the rent increase and at lease signing time being hit with a totally different amount? And management saying the other written documents were a mistake. How professional is that? Equity's accounting on my unit has been wrong numerous times (all documented); how professional is that for a company that (on its web page) alleges "When you rent with us, you???re not just a resident, you???re a neighbor. We???re going to listen to your needs, return your calls promptly and address your concerns." How do justify Equity refusing to do preventive maintenance on all the convector units in a multi-bedroom unit and have major water leaks because of it, which subsequently caused much of the parquet in multiple rooms to buckle AND claiming they will not fix it? How do you justify Equity beginning construction in one's unit at 7:30 am when a hand-delivered notice stated after 8:00am? The construction supervisor, Michael Countey (if and when you can find him/get a return call from him) is theoretically responsible, but denies it. How professional is it to post and/or distribute notice after notice to tenants about some construction issue when there are numerous typos, grammatical errors, and generally poorly written sentences? Why did the property manager tolerate this lack of quality (oh, by the way, English is the person's first language and the person allegedly finished high school)? At any given time, management has little idea of what contractors are working in the building. We had painters on my floor on Saturday night and they didn't sign in via the lobby. How do you justify Equity allowing dozens of vendors/vendors' agents (pizza, child care, care repair) to trespass and leave paper spam notices at the doors of many units? One lawyer tells me Equity could start by sending a "demand" notice to the advertising business. You say the business has no control - not so. The organization of the office/management is characterized by the four notices which Equity posted about the hours during which tenants could pick up their pool passes. Equity apparently didn't know how to plan or organize, didn't plan, changed their mind in mid-stream multiple times, and severely inconvenienced multiple tenants in the process. You place the decor of a lobby above the cleanliness, healthiness, and safety of the tenants. The lobby redo was a waste of money and resembles a boat. I also think that those of us who actually know how to play the piano should be allowed to do so. I did see one of the firemen once sit down and play and management did not have a beef. Management is tied into the fire department (as in tit for tat) as it lets Fx Cty use Skyline as practice fodder. Just two weeks ago the firemen/women in full gear were practicing racing up and down the stairwells. So when tenants call in about fire code violations, Skyline gets a long lease (yes, I've recently called in one).

I think that it's important to remember that we all have different experiences living in different apartments in different parts of the 2 different buildings. Don't knock starkiss for having a good experience. I've never seen a bug or mouse in my apartment either. That doesn't mean that I don't believe they exist - I just haven't seen them in my apartment. I'll ask again, while I'm at it - has anyone tried starting a tenants association to work on these issues. Someone could set a date for a meeting and post fliers around the building and maybe even under doors and just see who shows up. Fighting the problem together is more likely to solve the problem than fighting each other.

You don't even know the correct name of the management company. Are you writing about the right place? I think you're smoking something because you do not know anything about Skyline Towers.

How old are you? I must be "bangin'" someone in management... you're flat out sick and stupid. It's a shame that I have to live in the same place as you. FYI-- Grow up.

This is not a matter of cleanliness at all. A rat infested building is an ugly thing. From talking to my many neighbors, this problems has been going on for over a year or maybe two. Meaning that at some point, when maintenance covers the holes from your neighbors, the mice will find the way out to your place. One family had this problem last Summer and it was pretty bad. They did not want to move out and the problem (after finding over 15 mice) was fixed after six months. They now have an ultrasonic device in every room that scare the mice away. No more problems for them and they still like it here. So it all depends on what can people tolerate or if they have the means to move out. I cannot live with these unsanitary common areas and less with the three frikin mice I've had in my place and I am leaving in two weeks... thank heavens!

It's a no brainer that when 3 out of 4 people DO NOT recommend this place it's for a very good reason. As far as "Racism" is concerned , yes, D.C. area is a multi cultural city, thank God for that blessing. However, most cultures dont go to a religious "center" that have their leader endorse a barbaric/primitive belief that people that commit adultery , or convert from Islam, should be executed! This is the factual statements made by one of the Areas leading religious leader. God bless the multi Cultures. We condemn barbarism that espouses hate/terrorist groups , eg. those who have bumper stickers that say "I support Al Quds," and those that think it's ok not to call the Police if someone is being murdered for adultery, or not to call the Police if someone is being murdered for conversion. This , is not tolerated in civilised lands, nor should it, nor will it be tolerated in the USA.

You are sooo wrong! The outside trash door and the outside loading dock doors are wide open from approximately 7:00am to 10:00pm, The trash dumpsters attract rats and as a result the rats get into the building. The recent letter to Tennants in the South building, from the Equity Residential Leasing office is claiming that the Ceiling stains are from condensation. This plainly is a lie. The stains are from rat urine, feces and dead rats. The odor is lessened only a small bit, due to the bleach job performed on the tiles and walls, as well as, the outside loading dock doors are kept open. When walking thru the South Tower basement, one must hold their nose and breathe thru one's mouth. The management company is also trying to blame the cleanliness problem on the previous cleaning company and the Tennants. Changing cleaning companies will not help solve the problem. The management company is redirecting the blame to everyone but themselves. A larger trash compactor was installed in the South Tower basement trash room (some time ago) -- Problem was it did not fit and was jammed in the room, busting tiles and also giving rats another group of holes to access into the building structure. Overall, Skyline has bad management from the top, all the way down, to the lower staff. Have you noticed that no major repairs are made until around the first 2 weeks of the month, when the rent money comes in?
