So, I have been living in the North Tower for 5 months so far and have barely had any problems. My apt faces route 7 and I'm on the 17th floor so the view is great, the size is AMAZING, and the apartment is renovated. New carpet, new doors, appliances, bathroom fixtures, etc. My apartment is relatively quiet but I think I lucked out with my neighbors..the only problems I've had have been minor, like my knob on my oven broke off so my oven was on for 3 days because my roommate never realized it hadn't turned off. I came home from being out of town and my apt smelled like it was about to explode. I went downstairs and the concierge had someone in my apt to fix it within 2 hours. Not bad at all. The other thing is, when I moved in, my balcony was taken harboring every pigeon on the east coast and the floor was absolutely covered in pigeon poop and feathers! The feathers were stuck to the ground and the poop was acting as an adhesive. Management of course said they would clean it up. No such luck so if anyone wants to have a pigeon party, feel free to come on up.
The one thing that REALLY ticked me off since I moved here was the elevator in the South Tower. I have a washer/dryer but its so small that I have to use the machines in the hallway to get any real loads done. The stupid machine we have to use to get the laundry cards was out of service in the north Tower basement so I walked across to the South Tower. I was on the Lobby level and hit the button to go down. The doors opened and I got in to go down to the south Tower basement. Once I was in, THE LIGHTS WENT PITCH BLACK. The digital screen went black. The buttons with the floor numbers went black..and the doors would NOT open. I was SCREAMING and throwing myself up on door because I couldn't see anything and I was trapped in this box. I hit all the buttons repeatedly with the palm of my hand and still..nothing. It was really terrifying. I had left my cell phone upstairs so I couldn't call anyone. Finally, someone came up to the elevator bank and pressed the open button so I could get out. I was in there for over 5 minutes. Now, 5 minutes doesn't sound like a lot but it really is when you're trapped like that. I went to the concierge to let him know what happened and he looked at me like i was the most boring person he had ever spoken to. I asked him to put a sign on that elevator because it was clearly broken and he says "I'll alert maintenance". First of all, how would he alert maintenance when I didn't even tell him which elevator it was. And why do you need to alert maintenance to put a sign on an elevator' It's a SIGN!!! Plus, it was like 8:30 on a Sunday morning, i doubt any maintenance person would have putting a sign on an elevator be their first priority..what an A-HOLE!! I ended up going to the south tower basement anyways and that place is the PITS!! It does smell..it's dirty..now I see what everyone is talking about..at least the North basement is a little cleaner and doesn't have that odor..

Look...when only one in four recommend the property it's for good reasons. You have only lived there for 7 months. If, after your rent goes up in 5 months, and you would still recommend the property, I would be very surprised. By the way, how is your electric bill? Is this a 2BR unit? My unit is one bedroom, smaller than Skyline, but recently renovated/gutted the entire building, with normal size washing and dryers , that work well. Our Utilities are included, which I like a lot.

Management response to your problem(s) is not a surprise. When you first move it, they seem to care and say they will take care of anything you complain about. However, we found (as you have) that they never do as they promise; e.g., unsecured, broken doors that were reported when we first moved in were still unsecured and broken when we moved out a year later. Your only solution is to MOVE OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN. IT ONLY GETS WORSE!!!
