The welcome tour is comforting. The pool is nicely maintained, but the pool restrooms are often trashed. The front lobby and exercise rooms are fine. Until February we had significant problems with all elevators being out of service at the same time. We personally saw people with strollers and in wheelchairs stranded. When the apartment was presented to us, the carpet was filthy and management would do nothing except tell us that we would not be charged for the problem at move-out. There is a very, very significant rodent problem in the South tower. Not only do you have to live with rodents, you have to live with repeated intrusions into your apartment by the pest-control people. The trash chutes back up (perhaps contributing to the rodent problem). When you have no problem, the office staff is pleasant. If you have a problem, the only person with professional decorum and expertise is -------, the general manager, because the rest are completely incompetent, unauthorized, and unsympathetic. The business managers (----------------------) are particularly bureaucratic and ineffective. While the maintenance crew responds quickly, it is often inadequate. Our dishwasher requires multiple cycles to get the dishes clean and the maintenance people lament that there is nothing they can do. A towing company is used that is very very aggressive. If you have a guest, who stays a minute beyond the 3-hour period, he will be towed. It is really an unnecessary way to anger everyone. The people who live in the buildings are generally very quiet and cordial, however, there is one apartment on our floor, rented to college-age students where loud music is audible and management refuses to act. There is a constant plague of advertisements and circulars strewn in the halls and shoved under the doors. The basement area of the building has been torn up for 6 months. There are no tiles in the ceiling and all the wires and vents are exposed. Management says that this was necessary to combat the rodents, but it is unsightly, it smells, and no one has been offered any concessions for living among vermin or in this state of disrepair.

I'm sorry to say this but you should have read the reviews before moving in. The Fairfax Health Dept. has been involved with the rodent problems at Skyline for two years. All you can do at this point is move out as quickly as possible AND DO NOT PREPAY ANYTHING!!! They will try to get you to prepay your utilities and then they will try to keep your security deposit. We had to get an attorney to get our security deposit back.
