Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
Cambridge Commons Apartments, now known as The Fields at Westover owened and operated by KSI managemet, is an interesting property. Overall it is an ok apartment complex, but I would not recommend it.
Before I give you the breakdown, I have to give you some detail to make an informed decision and identify with my viewpoint.
Demographics: High Hispanic pop.
Race: I am ------- American
Age: early 20s
Experience: 1st apt.
Term: I moved in June 28, 2007 (keep this in mind)
The Good:
1)Public transportation is extremely accessible
2)Cost as it compares to overall Metro area is good ($849/mnth, plus
electricity)
3)Quick response for repairs, apt servicing, etc.
4) Friendly Staff
5) Shoppers, Safeway and other stores are nearby (No just in driving term. I
don't drive)
6)Quiet
The Bad:
1)Cheap material used throughout the apartment
2)Old apartment, many cracks and patch work (has a whole in my floorboard
before I even moved in, not sure if its mice I haven't seen any yet.)
3)The exterminator comes every weak (This is bad because he has to. For the
first several weeks, I didn't live in my apt. In addition, I thoroughly
cleaned my apartment twice before I fully moved in. Til this day I can not
rid my apartment from these roaches! I have made a routine of cleaning
every inch of my apartment each week. One occasion lead me to remove the
dishwasher and clean the disgusting filth that was awaiting me. After that
they stopped coming around during the day now they wait til night time.
I've done some research, tried boric acid, and limited my water usage to
prevent them from accessing it. After failing each time, I'm turning
towards my last resort. I hope it works.
4)No visitor parking passes, and parking lot is usally full (if you drive or
if you have friends-they don't tow, though)
5)I have had two work orders either performed or written-up wrong.
In fairness, the metro area is plagued with roaches and rats, and for the size of the apartments it would be difficult to maintain a pests free environment, especially with a tax-credit facility. I applaud the efforts of the management and staff. I, however, could not recommend this apartment complex. It has many good intangible aspects, but the bad tangible aspects have me literally running up the wall.
of WestoverI hope I was able to give you great insight into the world of a renter at The Fields
