Good for dog owners w/a high tolerance (long review)

I'm leaving this community after two years mostly because of the plumbing issues. The community is older so this leads to MANY issues with plumbing and noise insulation. I'm going to try to objectively break it down into pros/cons and let you as a potential renter make the decision. For me, I just couldn't take the cons anymore but that doesn't mean there aren't any pros. Side note, if you do NOT like dogs (all dogs) this place absolutley isn't for you.

PROS
-Safe: I have never felt unsafe or worried about my car being broken into. This was especially key because for a while I was working a midnight shift and would walk my dogs at 2/3 in the morning.

-Generally friendly neighbors: Actually for the Tyson's area they are great. People say hi and converse on the sidewalks

-Extremely dog friendly with a community dog run that also serves as a place to socialize with neighbors

-Almost all the dog owners pick up after their pets: Being a dog owner, I have lived in communities where despite there being regulations to the contrary, people wouldn't pick up their dog's mess. For whatever reason, the owners who live here are generally respectfull of others.

-Dumpster area is maintained: only once was it bad and I think it was Labor Day holiday. Other than that one time it has always been decent and trust me I moved to Tyson's Glen from a place that moved the trash once every week so I know what it can look like

-They clean the hallways: At least twice a week when leaving from work I see a worker sweeping and mopping the halls

-Maitenence responds quickly to issues: Last winter I got home from work (10:30 at night) to find I had no heat. It was a hassle to find the maitenence number, but I did and made the after hours phone call. What I expected was a long wait for arrival (midnight or later) and then more time spent fixing the problem. I was wrong. Maitenece was knocking on my door 30 minutes later and had the problem fixed within 15 minutes. A 45 minute turn around definately exceeded my expectations.

CONS
-Buildings are old: This leads to terrible plumbing issues. Seriously, there are days I wake up and can't take a hot shower. I especially enjoy it in the winter months. I have a rotating shift schedule at work so this really came into play when I worked 12pm-10pm. I called the office and the guy actually asked if I was the last one in my apartment building to shower. Seriously!! Also if someone else in the building has issues with the plumbing then maitenence has to shut the water off to the whole building. They usually turn it off at 8:30 am...on a weekday. Last month they shut the water off with no notice on a Saturday morning.

Thin walls:...and I don't mean loud neighbors. I mean that I can literally here my next door neighbor's telephone ring every Sunday morning. No it's not set to a super loud ring tone and they are a really quit/nice middle aged couple who couldn't be more considerate so it's not something that is their fault. I can also hear my downstairs neighbor's tv word for word. We had a conversation about it and they were shocked, even stating that they have their tv set to 38 trying to be considerate of others.

-Recently there has been a bedbug infestation in some apartment buildings. I haven't had a problem, but some of my neighbors have. The manager refused to send out a warning for the community or give preventive tips. One of my neighbors put up a notice on how to be aware and prevent them and it was taken down the very next morning by staff.

************

So as you can tell, technically the pros outweigh the cons but I must reiterate the plumbing issues. If you have any doubt about being able to handle random plumbing issues do not move here. The building is old therefore no matter how hard the maitenence staff works to fix building problems they are going to be reoccurring.
