Where do I begin. First of all the "maintenance staff" consists of one guy, and he's pretty worthless. I rarely see him around, and I know that often it's not him that does much of the maintenance requirements.

For example, I filed this complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Poplar Forest: "Since June 2005, the air filter in this apartment has been changed only THREE times: November 2, 2005, at my request; Mid-May, 2006, at my request; and on June 10, 2006, at my request. This past Monday was a month since the last changing. It is now Friday and still no change in the air filter. I am currently living in a fire hazard. Air filters need to be changed MONTHLY. Anyone living in any sort of house or apartment knows this rule of thumb. I should not have to request that my filter be changed; it should simply be done as part of the rent I pay." I even talked to the corporate office who agreed to change it bi-monthly, even though my air conditioner has a label that says "change filters monthly" on the front of it in plain view. I finally got them to change the filters monthly, but only because they put in a work order to have it done, which shouldn't be the case. Often I've come home to find out that the filters are not even being changed by the maintenance staff, but the guy who works in the office who wears khakis and polos!

I had to call twice to have my washing machine fixed when it wasn't draining correctly.

There is a 5% discount for teachers. Both my roommate and I are teachers. When he called to set it up, the management told him that the 5% was per teacher, adding up to 10% for both of us. Two months later, we get a bill for unpaid charges because they've changed their minds and it's only 5% per apartment.

During the summer months, the stairs get filthy with dead bugs, grass, etc, and they're only cleaned once or so a year by the "maintenance staff."

We're told to keep the lights in our storage units on when it's going to be below 40 degrees to keep the pipes from bursting, but then they refuse to reimburse us for the extra cost on our electric bill.

The answering machine in the office ends with "Poplar Forest Apartments: A wonderful place to call home." I think they should change it to "Poplar Forest Apartments: we're stupid and we hope our tenants are too."

The price is good for what you get, but if there was a better complex in Farmville with comparable rates, I'd move there in a heartbeat. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7

Poplar Forest Apartments has a new maintenance person as well as a new Property Manager. Many residents have commented on how much nicer the community is since these changes have been made.

How is it nicer? So old repeat things. Worthless maintenance and Property Manager. The Property Manager's best feature is giving parties. Maybe they need to take care of this place more, like keeping the hallways cleaner and keep the dogs in check. Most places you look there is doggie doo doo all over the place. When my lease is up which will be soon, I will be out of this place you call a nice place to live, and God I am so glad I won't be here. Put this on your answering machine, we wish it was a nice place to call home, but I am busy combing my hair.
