My husband is in the military, and we are constantly moving. We had asked before we moved in, if there were any other leases less than 12 months, because in the last 4 years we have moved literally EVERY 6 months. They said no, there isn't any shorter leases, but that the military clause in the lease agreement would cover anything that we would need to leave for. And now that we are trying to get things taken care of, in the way we were initially told that we needed to. Now they are saying they won't accept that. In addition, it's true, they only have ONE maintenance person, and should hire some additional help. We have had problems with the water heater leaking, the part of the a/c unit inside leaking, the refrigerator door being broken, etc. and only after we had said enough was enough, we had a puddle of water constantly in the carpet, and it started to stink. Even when I would use my rug shampooer to suck up the extra water, every day for three months there was water on my floor. Beware of all the extra fees they try to stick you with if you want to have a $300 pet plus $25/month, $300 for the satelite dish (which is already attached to the house), and these are NON-REFUNDABLE deposits. I have also heard of many other people who move out, and are stuck with extreme bills for "damages" to the property such as needing to repaint (which they do after every tenant leaves and say that they will charge up to $500), and replacing the carpet (which they don't, they just have someone shampoo it, which isn't a problem, but don't charge people to replace, and not do so.
I just think that they need to work on improving their customer service, and maintenance services. It seems like when anyone trys to leave, they become very rude, and bully like into trying to get you to stay.

Once again some common sense for the people who are being charged all of these supposed fees upon move out, theres one answer. FILL OUT THE MOVE IN CONDITION SHEET, RETURN A COPY TO THE OFFICE, AND HAVE IT AT MOVE OUT. I was charged nothing at move out. I also got the pet deposit back, part of it was refundable. Satelite is not already attached unless the previous resident left it, and yes most apartments charge pet rent. As for the military clause, you should have no problem using it to break your lease if you provide orders
