Terrible Experience

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
i have to say that my problems with Prince William Apartments pretty much started on the day i moved in. The first time i attempted to use the garbage disposal, it broke. I then had to fish out one cigarette butt after another that had probably been left there by either the painter or the cleaning staff. The apartment was NOT clean when it was turned over to me. There were still rotting onions in the cabinets, stains all over the rug, the cleaning staff obviously had no interest in cleaning anything. I spent the better part of two days cleaning the kitchen alone. When the apartment was turned over to me, I was promised a new stove because only one burner worked on the old one and it was a health hazard. This was promised to me before i even signed the contract. Do you know how long it took' 6-8 weeks! I called every week asking about the new stove and got promise after promise that it would be installed soon. My mother finally had to call and threaten them with legal action. But that wasn?t the end of my worries. The broken garbage disposal that i mentioned earlier was not fixed for a week and a half despite constant phone calls. I wasn?t even the one who broke it! I wish that were the end of my problems, but in November of 2003 i realized that there was a flea problem in the apartment. i do not own a pet and no animal had been in the apartment since i moved in. I called Yates to complain and after promising to send someone out Dec. 3rd, they proceeded to forget about their promise. The fleas had by this time gotten so bad and i was so busy with school that i was forced to move back home for several weeks. I was covered in flea bites and became miserable whenever i even thought about the apartment. In the end, Yates properties flea bombed the apartment twice, but they never told us when they did this and they never gave us notice that they were in our apartment to flea bomb. I consider this a health hazard as no one is supposed to be in the apartment for 4-6 hours after a bomb has been set off. For all i know, I was sitting at my computer inhaling flea bomb fumes because Yates properties never bothered to notify of their actions in MY apartment. The last draw for me was when my parking space, which is provided for me by the contract was taken by a visitors car. in fact, the entire parking lot was full! There was no place for me to park. I notified Yates properties of this and they refused to lift a finger to help me park at my own apartment complex! Because of this, I once again could not sleep at my own apartment and had to spend yet another night at my parents house. I will be getting out of here as quickly as i possibly can. If anyone can offer me advice as to how to do this, i would much appreciate it.
Bottom line- do not even think about living here unless you have somewhere else you can stay for half your lease
