Stay away from Snowden Village Apartments for the following reason:
1. The apartments are very bad in isolating noise from the street and your neighbours. I complained many times about the noise from my neighbors to the management but it seems they lose the note everytime (most are student who leave their loud music on until late at night or fight/argue in the parking lot, or leave their music blaring from their car stereos until late at night). I had to call the police about the noise many times but that solution was temporary. Everytime I talk to the management about sending warnings to neighbors they tell me that they would do but nothing happends (they were very responsive when I was 1 day late in my rent and charged my $70 late fee, that was about it !!)
2. The building is extremely bad; electric plugs are not attached to the wall properly and if you are not careful, you could pull them out. The tile in the shower is falling from the wall with cracks full of mildow and gunk. The windows do not open properly and the let-in cold air in winter at high rate (I had to put plastic on my windows to keep the apartment warm). The doors are falling from the henges. The gas oven is in such a bad shape that I had to call-in service too many time for them to fix it. The worst is the air-conditioner/heat pump: The thermostat is very old and can lock-in and not turn-off for a long time. I had to call-in service to put gas in my A/C unit every summer of my stay (One time, I had to wait for 2.5 weeks before the technician was able to service my unit. He told me he as bussy with so many calls). The carpet stinks.
3. Your neighbors stink. The majority is half-brain students from the university who simply do not care about their neighbors. THEY ARE LOUD. What makes it worse is that management does not respond to any of my complaints. I lived on the third floor but was annoyed by the base noise from the two ------- living a floor down). The stairs are always littered with cigarette butts.
4. For the amount of money these people ask, and the standard of living you get, you might want to look somewhere else.
5. Even though the lady says ?you make a difference with Snowden?, let me tell you that you will be making a difference to the worse.
6. They are currently working on Cowan Blvd. extension to Central Park. The road is horrible (muddy, tight, and dusty). Your car will suffer the most from the hole at the entrance to the apartment complex and you will be distrubed by the loud excavators working at the early morning.
