I've been very happy living at Belmont since we moved in over two years ago. The apartments are beautiful, inside and out. I'm very glad we opted for the vaulted ceilings as they give the place a much lighter, more open look. The large balcony is nice as well. I love the option to have our own washer and dryer.
We've had no noise issues - it's been nothing but a quiet community.
Most of the maintenance issues we've had have been minor, and for those that weren't so minor (A/C out while my daughter had a fever and was sweating profusely), maintenance was prompt. Sometimes I've had to make a couple of calls for minor issues, but they were even so minor that I kept forgetting about them myself (oven fan making weird noise, for example).
We have had some ant issues in late spring/early summer, but a few traps, some raid, and a call to maintenance for pest control took care of it. Nothing like what I've experienced in other apartment complexes (see review of Greenbrier I will be posting shortly).
We, like another reviewer, experienced the hassle of having rent deducted twice one month. They were switching to electronic processing of checks and debited the checking account electronically, then later deposited the checks. I seriously doubt that it was done on purpose. When the second debit didn't go through immediately (who has that much extra money lying around!), I put a stop payment on it, and Belmont refunded me all associated fees. A headache for sure, but not malicious, and they dealt with the issue professionally.
Also nice about this community is the lack of parasitic tow trucks. I like not having to worry about parking/towing.
The only thing that I feel is missing is a tot lot. There's really nowhere for a small child to play, and might be one reason why I don't see many living in the neighborhood.
I do have one more comment about the leasing office. We were trying to move to northern va this past winter, and I put in our 60 days notice at Belmont. When the apartment we were trying for in Arlington fell through, the leasing office was accomodating, and gave us extra time to figure out whether or not we were going to move, and with no penalty. They could have stuck by the 60 days notice-or-else rule, but gave me a few extra weeks to decide. They were also nice enough to waive a late fee one month, when I kept forgetting to drop off the check, and was a day past the grace period. They've been great to deal with. BuLYzGcKAVo8MQPlcXJq

I just read this review--and it's nonsense! I think that someone from the staff wrote this in response to complaints you may have heard from current & former residents. I'm a resident of Belmont at Cowan Place, and I can say that there are numerous issues here that are not being addressed--and even--blatantly ignored. Let me take a moment to say that I am writing this review with another resident as we share the same opinions of the place.
I'm going to number the biggest issues we have with the place.
1). PARKING--If you have a car, good luck finding a parking spot close to your building when you get off from work. I strongly encourage anyone thinking of moving here to drive through at a time when most people are off from work. There's no assigned parking, no guest parking, and tenants can have as many guests or vehicles as possible. Take a look at it for yourself. The writer of the previous reveiw is happy there are no "parasitic" tow trucks. However, I think after you move in here you'd be happy if the place developed a few parking rules and enforced them so you could actually carry stuff into your apartment from your car after a long day. Otherwise--enjoy the hike to your building.
2). WASHER/DRYER "Option"--The writer of the above review cites that he/she had the option of a washer & dryer. The washer/dryer "option" is an extremely expensive one. In fact, it would be cheaper to go out and purchase your own washer and dryer to move into a unit, rather than rent the outdated machines they'll rent to you monthly.
3). PESTS--My apartment is crawling with pests of every species, except ---- roaches..thank God! Spiders, chiggers, ants, and crickets are all over the place. Good luck getting rid of them.
4). NOISE--You will hear a lot of noise here. Again, take a look for yourself and come here when people are off work and the students are out of classes. The walls are thin, and the floors are just as bad. We can hear EVERYTHING our neighbors do upstairs. You'll also hear people walking up-and-down the stairs outside of your apartment.
5). APPLICATION FEE--$300 to apply for the privledge of living here. That's right, it's not a security deposit, but a non-refundable application fee. It's the biggest scam I've ever heard of: who in their right mind would believe that those are reasonable fees associated with applying to rent a very small apartment? You will not get the $300 back as you would with a security deposit.
6). POOL--I saw another review where the reviewer stated that the pool in the picture is not the same pool here, and another reviewer--presumably a staff member--claimed that it was. If you like the pool in the picture, walk around the leasing building and see the pool you're really getting. The pool is small, not maintained well, and is crawling with non residents all day long. In fact, I have driven onto the property behind cars loaded down with people who came here just to get into the pool. Again, this goes to parking problems and extremely poor property management.
7). RENT DEDUCTED TWICE IN A MONTH--The previous reviewer stated that the property management was professional in its response after it deducted residents' rent electronically twice in a month. However, I ask why it should've occurred in the first place! It shows a very dangerous lack of disorganization that could've caused some residents fortunes in over draft fees and countless phone calls to other creditors trying to explain the mishap. That wasn't just a simple mistake, and actually, similar mistakes like that in other professions could have been considered criminal.
8) PENALTIES--The previous reviewer stated that the property management is very forgiving. However, before you sign your lease and make a decision on this place, read the penalties. There are even penalties stacked onto penalties. For example, say for whatever reason your rent check doesn't clear. There's a huge penalty for the bounced check. A penalty is understandable, however, but you will also receive another huge penalty because the bounced check made your rent payment late, so you will get a huge penalty for that in addition to the bounced check penalty. There are so many penalties...just read the lease.
I and others moved here because we liked what we saw on first glance. It's a very beautiful place on the outside. However, please take heed of my suggestion and see this place for what it's really going to be like after hours, not during the day when a lot of the other residents and guests are out at work or running about.
