Good from 2006-2007

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007

I lived at the Belmont from 2006-2007 and it was nice during that period of time. I moved out almost a year ago when I was transferred (again) out of state. My unit was a corner top floor unit with a fireplace, so I had high ceilings and neighbors on only one wall. I never heard a thing from the neighbors, and the property was quiet as well. My apartment had a great view from the deck out over the Rappahannock river valley. I could see for several miles and it was actually a beautiful view during autumn. I enjoyed the view a lot.

In terms of the apartment itself, it was one of the nicest rentals I found in the Fredericksburg area. The Belmont was one of the four or five nice rentals in the area and I thought it was a nice place to live. The rest of the big apartment complexes were full of ghetto people or were just dumps. The residents at the Belmont seemed to be normal, not ghetto or trash. I didn't see anything questionable while I lived there, and the people who worked in the office were always nice to me. I didn't have any problems. I did not attempt to use any of the amenities like pool/hot tub/gym.

The apartment was standard Fredericksburg area rental, pretty basic, linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom, carpet elsewhere. A few people who visited said "nice place", which it was. Not luxury, per se, but nice nonetheless. The grounds were attractive and I was very comfortable on the property. I had no mechanical problems with the unit, and the heat pump kept the place ice cold. In fact, I was impressed with how well it kept up with my demands--I like it ice cold in summer, and nice and warm in winter.

While the apartment was fairly expensive, the utilities were just the opposite. Keeping the place at 66-70 all summer, the highest energy bill I got was less than $100, that included doing several loads of laundry per week, running the dishwasher, etc. Comparatively, my energy bill in Arizona is over $300 during summer. Therefore, I would say that the unit was quite energy efficient, and the heat pump (reverse cycle A/C and heat) was extremely efficient as well. That was a pleasant surprise.

Parking was fine, except if I came in after 8 or 9 at night, then I had to park farther away. Otherwise I parked right outside my front door, same space every day. I kind of miss the apartment to be honest. It was nice, comfortable, had high ceilings, a nice view, in a good location right near tons of shopping and eating.

Overall I'd recommend it. Keep in mind that Fredericksburg isn't Beverly Hills--you must rate it in terms of other area properties. The Belmont was the most attractive one in my opinion.
