So far, so good

Granted, we moved in a week ago...but so far, so good. We are enjoying the apartment and Richmond. The Hamptons are nicely situated far enough away to feel relaxing, but ridiculously close to I-295 so everywhere in Richmond is within easy reach. Commute to downtown is about 20 minutes and Short Pump shopping area is just a few minutes away. The staff have been very helpful and friendly. We've lived in a few apartments, from Little Rock and Buffalo to Vermont and Iowa; I think this is the nicest complex by far. Of course, it does come with a price, but well worth it in my estimation. We splurged and got a two-bedroom with attached one-car garage -- very convenient and a must when moving from a three-bedroom house. Only minor pet peeve so far is that the person above us walks on their heels, so it sounds like he/she is stomping around -- especially after 11 p.m. Remember, if you live in a multi-story complex and live on a higher floor, there are people living BELOW you. A little common courtesy is always welcomed. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji

People walk the way they walk. If you are extra sensitive you should go ahead and live on the top floor.

Actually, I'm probably about the least sensitive type of person around. There's a little difference between walking and literally stomping -- I mean this person I swear is going to come right through the ceiling. As I'm a night owl, it doesn't bother me -- and my spouse can sleep through anything. It was just an observation -- I mean is stomping really necessary? Especially if you KNOW someone is living below you? People seem to forget that there are actually other people living on this earth besides them. And I couldn't pick the floor -- with only one apartment available at the time we needed it, we were stuck with one option. I guess this place is like 99% occupied and we sweated it out on the wait list -- just happy to get in -- even with the nightly stomping from one end of the apartment to the other upstairs.

I live on the second floor at the Hamptons and just believe it is the floors themselves that are the issue, they are pretty thin. The person who lived above us was pretty audible when walking around, especially in the middle of the night. She moved out and we don't hear much from the people above. They are 'barefoot types' though!
