Not worth the money

The Addison at Hampton apartments have well-kept grounds, ample parking, and a good location. Being close to the Sentara Careplex Hampton (hospital), you do hear ambulance sirens fairly often. My overall stay there was OK, but I would not choose to live there again, because I think there are better places for the kind of money they charge ($1,150 for a 2BR apt!).

There were problems with my 2BR apartment that I didn't notice until after I moved in. First, the dishwasher leaked. Second, the vertical blinds in the master bedroom were damaged and with the slightest stimulation would fall out of the clip hangers. Management forced me to pay for them after I moved out. To their credit, they fixed the broken pipes over my laundry room after my apartment flooded (twice), but never sealed up the ceiling after the second incident until after I moved out.

The water is not individually metered, so even though I worked out of state for a month, I got charged for everyone else's water in the building.

The maintenance crews were prompt and courteous when I had a complaint. The lifeguards at the pool are nice guys, but are foreigners, and interpret the "no diving" rule to mean that you can't swim below the water's surface. My kids found that swimming there wasn't fun anymore.

When I moved out, Weinstein Properties management kept my deposit by trumping up bogus fees, then actually sent me an invoice for over $70 due for the vertical blinds that were broken before I moved in. Based on my experience, I have concluded that these are people I do not want to deal with again. My advice to anyone considering living here is to verify everything, document everything, and expect them to keep your deposit and raise your rent every year.
