Ok my husband was stationed here on short notice so when we got to hampton we didn't have that much tme to sit down and search for a new place, but when we came to Bridgewater initially we liked it and were ready to move in. We were supposed to move in on a monday and the saturday before, yes 2 days before move in, we were told we would have to wait to move in because the person that lived there had went out of town and wasn't back yet! And what makes it worse was that the office worker couldn't give us a set date when we could move in! So we were allowed to move into the model apartment until they got everything straightened out with the prev. tenent. After going back and forth with the office "manager" we moved in a week later. So after that everything went ok until the summertime. As you all know the summer of 2004 in hampton was RIDICULOUS! It was extremely hot and our air conditioning stopped working. So i called the office to have someone come look at it. He left the first time saying it was fixed and to let it run all day on auto and the apartment should cool off. So after waiting 2 days the apartment was at a smoldering 92 degrees, and to make matters worse I had a 2 month old baby that got a heat rash in her own home! Finally my husband went to the office and asked the manager to come to the apartment to feel the heat for herself. After being there for 2 mins she said something is definatly wrong and she will have it fixed. Well we were finally told that since we were on the 3rd floor nothing was wrong with our a/c, that since we were on the third floor our apt would always be hot due to the fact that "heat rises" and "that the sun is beating down on the roof". So we had to go 5 months with NO a/c. After not accepting that I sent complaints to news 10 on your side, the Better Business Bureau and the company that owns Bridgewater on the lake. When my lease was up I was so happy to be moving! They actually had the audasity to send me a rent renewal letter saying that if we wanted to stay our rent would go over $1000 for about 900 sq ft!!! Also they have no security what so ever!! The apartment next to them have a security gate and they have no problems there but my husbands vehicle was broken into once and our neighbors vehicle was vandalized. I would really advise anyone looking for a place to live to look anywhere else but here!!

I am a resident of Bridgewater Apartments and I have been a resident here for almost 4 years now. This must be a rare sistuation because I have never had any issues with Maintenance handling situations immediately. Not only is their staff friendly and extremely helpful, they also care about their residents. They have tons of parties for their residents where they give out some great door prizes and don't be surprised to find them at the entrance at 5 in the morning passing out breakfast to you. Come by and see for yourself. Every once in a while situations happen-it happens everywhere. But this is not a legitimate review in my opinion of the apartments and all they have to offer.

I have lived here for over a year and maintenance has been stellar-the best I have ever seen and I have lived in four other complexes across the US. I agree with smokey77 that your experience is not typical. The staff has always been extremely nice and helpful to us with anything we ask for. Every season or special occasiona they throw parties for the residents and include the children. Also, the company that owns Bridgewater also owns the company next door so things are going to be the same at either place. One of the things to know about Hampton is that the city is a crap place to live-period. Bridgewater is one of the nicest and most secure places you could live here, in my opinion. Many Hampton police officers and military members from all branches live in this complex and your neighbors watch out for you as well. My only complaint is the rent is very high for what you get but the cost of iving is very high for this area too! |

Yes I would agree with the both of you that the maintenance men are nice people, but in my opinion they handled this situation wrong. I mean because when you listen to the situations that happened to me, yes I agree it is not typical but nonetheless it happened and nothing was done to help me. I agree with you smokey that Bridgewater does have parties on the holidays and everyone has a great time but thats not what I pay my rent for! I pay my rent to live in a SAFE and FULLY functional home and for the short period of time that I stayed there I didn't have that.
