We are in the upstairs apartment which has a bonus room. The apartment's living room is very spacious for this reason. The rest of the apt. has huge bedroom closets with two hinged doors. The bathrooms are normal size but the bath tubs are very narrow. The complex put in tubs that arch out on one side to make them feel more spacious but if you are picky with space like me, you'll notice. The floors when we moved in were awesome. The carpet was not new but they had done such a wonderful job cleaning it, there weren't any spots. The lenoleum was brand new and we were asked not to use vinyl-backed carpets in the kitchen or bathroom because it will turn the lenoleum yellow. So we did have to buy new carpets but no big deal. All the rooms have very nice moulding. The dining rooms have a chair rail, which has saved us from making scuff marks on the walls. The hall closet has a lot of space too. The kitchen is really small and does not accommodate all our stuff. We will have to buy a pantry shelf and stick it in the dining room due to the fact that the shelves are not tall enough to put cereal boxes in them. We have boxes of food on the counters and on the top of the fridge because there just isn't any room in there. The apartments are very nice. They are old and have old appliances that could use some updating but for the most part, they work great. One thing the manager failed to mention is this place gets bugs. I have checked the seals on all the windows and doors and still have no idea how they are getting in. (spiders and roaches). I myself have been bitten by spiders repeatedly here. I can't stand roaches so I put traps everywhere and kept things spotless. It didn't help. They have wings in VA so putting things up high doesn't help either. The windows are storm windows so they are a pain in the butt to open and close. We've already broken one.
The complex is in a very commercial area so there are restaurants all over, stores, clubs... anything you could think of or want is here. The problem with that is, we hear people honk all the time and often hear sirens. When we come out of the complex we almost always run someone over. And the entrance/exit to the complex (there is only one) is hard to turn into and out of during high traffic times. Finding a parking spot has never been a problem here. Each apt has one assigned spot and then there is at least 15 more spots for anyone to park in. I believe the complex has only 48 apts total. It's a small complex with a small lot. We have had problems with the dumpster being full at certain times like holidays. There is only one dumpster for the whole place so it fills up fast. I called the manager once to let them know it was over-filled, and they called the trash company that day to make an extra trip.
It's very quiet here. Neighbors are nice.
We've had a problem with maintenance. Lots of things were broken when we moved in, mostly small things like the cap on the dish washer was missing, the closet was missing the bar to hang things on... one thing we called about and had a problem with was, the knob in the tub was leaking very slowly. Someone came out to look at it and said they fixed it. Two days later it was leaking again. I neglected to call and found myself one morning with no knob and hot scalding water shooting across the bathroom. I called the emergency line for the apt and was told someone would be out right away. Nine hours later we had to call a plumber because the apt maintenance still had not shown up. Luckily I figured out where the shut off valve was or else our entire apt would have flooded.
Overall, we love this apartment. It has its annoyances (bugs, old age) but we will be very sad to leave it.

ha you are joking right? this place not only had bugs but a bit sewage problem. my toilets were stained and i had to be very careful about giving my children a bath because this slimy black water would come out into the tub. my neighbors sounded like they were having a blcok party every night and i think sometimes they are going to fall through the floor. its rediculous!
