My hubby and I had to find an apt quickly, and hit town on Friday afternoon.

This was the most affordable one we found, and didn't look TOO bad.

We broke the cardinal rule of not visiting an apt complex at night to see what's it's like.

Let me fill you in: at night, it turns into a drug-ridden brothel.

Hoodlums playing craps in the filthy laundry rooms....loud music...loitering.

We called the police about gunshots outside our apt the second night we lived there.

Our car was vandalized within the first month we lived there.

A good friend was robbed at gunpoint walking through the complex.

Oh, and they boast a pool, which was closed in Sept when we began our lease, but it was never opened in the year we lived there.

Management is poor, at best.

We had a leak in our bathroom ceiling that they kept insisting wasn't there, even though I showed them VIDEOTAPE of it leaking when the tenants above us showered.

Even after the ceiling collapsed into the bathtub several months later, it took them 3 days to repair it.

The office manager asked if we couldn't use the sink until they fixed it to "wash up." We ended up renting a hotel room for 3 days, and had to fight with the corporate office in VA Beach to be reimbursed for it.

The apartment was riddled with roaches, and we paid a ton for spray and sonic pest repellers to get rid of them.

Thank god we got out of that slumhole! Learn from my experience--when a Bail Bondsman and Greyhound station is across the street from an apartment complex, it's never a good thing.
