Not worth it

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
My husband and I moved into Lakeshore in March 07 and I've been apartment hunting again since October. The ladies in the office are all sweathearts but the maintenance staff is something not of this world. I don't know if it's the actual staff or the director, Diana Hudson, but it took me over 4 months to get some chicken wire replaced on my balcony to keep the pigeons away (the staff was out multiple times and couldn't seem to figure out what I was asking them to do... The birds lived on the balcony and it was unsanitary to go out there after a point). Any other maintenance request I've submitted has been half-assed or not even completed. I have had to write to Weinstein Properties main office to get things done at times because Diana doesn't give the staff all the details in order to do the job right. I recently looked at the complex on apartmentguide.com and the rent for my $695 2 bedroom is listed as over $800 and I haven't received any word of a rate increase. Quite frankly I'm fearing the day I getm y bill and it's over a grand after washer/dryer rental and pet fees. They also told me the pet deposit is non-refundable and I'm responsible for the cleanup costs afterwards basically implying when I move out I'm paying for de-fleaing and all that stuff ON TOP of the deposit.. I just want to know where the money is going. The grounds are disgusting. Granted the residents are responsible for hte mess but why do we have a maintenance staff if they're not going to clean the landings/staircases/halls' There is a terrible spider problem and the mold is really trying my alergies anymore. The tile floors feel as tho they will cave in (and have cracks where theyre weak). The outlets are so loose my lamps dont stay on for more than a couple moments before they dislodge (same for my alarm which terrifies me). Theres a lot wrong with this development. Parking is just as bad. There is no assigned parking so many times I have to park on the other side of the complex and walk back to the building (meanwhile a few months ago someone was shot in the parking lot 10 times). As much as I love hte layout and view of my apartment, the health issues and financial difficulties and streess that go with it are not worth it. Look into Newport News apartments if you want something nice for the same price.
