If you're desperate for somewhere to live

I will start by saying that Queen's Terrace is not the worst place in the world, but it is located directly around the corner from the Lincoln park housing projects (which when you get directions from the apartment guide, they send you around so you don't see it until you move there and get to know the area) So when you want to get to the freeway, you have to drive by a bunch of crackheads and dealers slangin' rocks in the breezeways and standing out in the street at all hours of the night. Unless you'd rather take the long way around...

We moved here and then moved out a few months later (breaking our lease) for a few reasons.

First of all the apartment was not clean when we moved in. Quite different than the model you see when you tour the community. There was CAKED ON dirt in the corners in the kitchen, the floors were not waxed & the counters were scratched and peeling. It's also pretty ghetto that they charge you $35 a month for a W/D that has to be kept in your kitchen in the open, making it hard to open your back door and when you want to wash your clothes you have to wheel the washer over to your sink and hook it up.

We had hardwood floors in our unit and some of the pieces were coming up and not glued down properly. Our neighbors A/C unit backed up and caused our downstairs closet to flood and there was nasty water coming out into the living room. They took care of the problem in a somewhat timely manner, but they never did come back and fix our floor.

I had a couple of run-ins with cockroaches, ants, and some other bugs... the dumpsters are often overflowing and smelly in the summer.

The apartments are not insulated well and so in the summer time you can turn your A/C all the way on and it will still be 10-15 degrees hotter upstairs than downstairs.

You can literally hear your neighbors having conversations in the kitchen thru the utility closet, and while our neighbors were nice, I wasnt interested in hearing details about their lives and wondering what they heard me and my husband talking about.

The only upside to this place was the office staff, they were nice...

In closing, we are glad we left. I do not recommend this place, unless you're truly desperate and not picky about where you live. I guess you truly get what you pay for...and if you're smart, you'll move to Va Beach instead.

I don't think it's the nicest thing to say "unless you are desperate or not picky about where you stay" - there are many people that live here and are happy here and may find what you said was a bit insulting. Your review may be better received if it was not insulting to others.
