They raised the rent, so I'm leaving.

This place is right next to an enormous government funded ghetto. I hear gunshots at least twice a month in the winter and more often when it is warm. Right before I moved in, one of my neighbors was raped in her own house. I know about this because she and I became friends. She has since moved away. Her husband left the door unlocked while he was at a friend's house and the rapist, who was probably casing the place, walked right in.
There have also been a couple murders around here. I think it was October 2006 or October 2006 the last time someone in Queen's Terrace was shot. I do not recommend this place for children or single ladies.
Papa John's won't deliver here; it's too dangerous. The more intrepid delivery people, Chanello's and Domino's, insist on pulling right up to the door with the headlights shining on your front door for safety.
Moving in was a horrible experience. I should have gone away then. I was lured by the $685 per month rent and nearly 1000 sq feet. The painters were still painting and the refrigerator was outside. The movers and I waited nearly an hour, for which time I was paying them $80 per hour. The painters left and the place was filthy. There was grime in the floor, two lights didn't even work, someone had peed in the toilet and not bothered to flush, the closet door wouldn't close, and the bathroom sink was falling off the wall. The back door was practically ripped in half. (It still is) Still, I moved in.
The rental office refused to reimburse me saying that they didn't know when I was coming. When I requested that they fix the lights, doors, and sink, they said they would. The never did. After two weeks I called again. The sink was fixed a couple of days. The stupid maintenance guy, the HEAD guy, put caulk in between the sink and the wall. So the sink was falling off the wall and some caulk was going to create the illusion that it was okay. I made him come back. This time he stabilized it by putting some metal poles underneath into the floor.
The light in the stairway still is broken, the doors are still crap. I gave up.
The charge a $300 non refunable pet fee. There is also a $15 monthly pet fee. The neighbor's dog still craps everywhere and no one picks it up. The law care people weed-wacked my flowers. They didn't pay for them, even after repeated calls. A month after reporting this, the rental office gave me a $50 rental voucher.
I am moving because they are raising the rent and this place is not worth it. The only reason I renewed my lease last year was because I hate moving. They're offering some free rent special but don't fall for it. They must be desperate for tennants to offer free rent.
