We moved here from an area with nice apartments, I've never bought a house and move often because of my job I've had some great appartments this is not one of them.
When we first move in the Gas stove doesn't work, so we cannot cook, and the "freezer" will turn freshly bought ice cream to soup. It took us 4 months to get them to replace the stove, and 5 months to replace the refigerator. The first year the summers were not as bad as this years but the electric bill still got up to $198 dollars in one month. In the winter the heating bill was about $78 a month and we had a pretty cold winter. This year during the heat wave the appartment would be between 85-90's WITH the air conditioner running constantly, this months electric bill $299. For a FREAKIN 2 bed room appartment. And we kept the lights off to keep from generating heat, didn't cook, only ran the dishwasher and dryer at night, and still the AC would run 24-7.
Have had the maintance guy up twice, but filed plenty of reports, "it's the architecture" he said, "your air conditioner is working just fine" he said. --------. But try to get them to do a damn thing about it.
The grounds are terrible, I took my kids to the "playground" once and very quickly saw broken glass in the area.
and the other reviewers are right BIG Mean looking dogs, and walking around in the day time yes at night it's a whole different story.
The wall's are thin as hell, hope you don't have a noisy neighbor because you will hear them. Hope they dont have a base system because it will rattle your floors, and the cars with the bumping systems will rattle the inside of your appartment waking up your kids at 1 and 2 a.m.
Did I mention that we are right by an air force base, in the landing path, that you can hear the scream of the jets constantly.
Or how bout the fact that we are right accross the street from a race track, over those nice hot summer nights you can hear all the cars just like you where listing to it full blast on your TV.
The prices are over-inflated in this area, a good place in hampton runs you over $1 Grand, do yourself a favor go to a realtor and rent a house or town home you might be able to find a comperable price. Or find something with a long drive, smithfield, Franklin, or Williamsburg, at least you will be able to enjoy your nights.
