No longer a good place to live! Not safe at all! My car, my roommate's car, and a few of my friends' cars have all been broken into, especially over winter and thanksgiving break. Recently, resident of the Mill walking back to his apartment almost got beaten to death behind the 7-11 immediately next door to the complex. There are gun shots going off at night, 1 case of a drive by shooting. The neighborhood right next door is downright scary. I don't know if it's because of the economy or what, but the Mill isn't the safe, friendly place I was told it was by both previous tenants and especially the management, who hasn't done anything about it. Management is also a pain to deal with and it's hard as hell to get things fixed up around here. If you want your car broken into, are an overly patient person with frustrating people, and want to be subject to gang violence then by all means LIVE HERE!

I am also a tenant at the mill and i disagree with some of your statements. Unfortunately I am one of the people whose car was broken into over break. I was not aware my car had been broken into because I hadn't been downstairs yet, but the office manager came to our apartment to let me know after he saw my car window broken and looked up my license plate number in the mill computer. The police officer I talked to told me that the mill was just one of multiple apartment complexes that had cars broken into that night. He also said that it happens at a lot of known student complexes over breaks because town residents know that most students are on vacation and the offenders are less likely to be seen. In response to the safety issues this is not just an issue at the mill but an issue everywhere in Harrisonburg. We all know about the shooting that happened at hunters ridge and that there is gang related violence all over Harrisonburg. A friend of mine who lives in Hunters Ridge had her tires slashed. In Ashby a man forced his way into an apartment and robbed the tenants by pretending he was collecting money for a charity. Ashby even has SECURITY and this happened. I'm sorry for what happened to the boy who was beat up but you fail to mention that he was walking alone and at 1:30 in the morning. When I went to drop off my rent check earlier this month the office manager was in the office talking to the police to see what he could do to help prevent something like that from happening again. I think that was very nice of him considering the fact that it happened at the 7-11 not at the mill. I'm not saying the mill is perfect but I do think it is a nice place to live.

walking out at 130 in the am by by your self is not good, but not a reason to get kicked and beaten nearly to death! And what has the mill done about lighting that faces in that direction. NOthing!!! thats what!!!! they are as tight as they come and if not, actions speak louder than words. We've seen no action!~!!
