I've lived in Stone Gate the past 2 years, and while it's not as nice as Sunchase, it's definitely not the worst complex to live in. They've gotten a lot better, especially over the past year, about keeping the grounds clean. There is a grounds keeper walking around almost every morning to pickup trash and whatnot.

The apartments themselves are nice, I've lived on both the first and third floors. Having the 5th "party" bathroom is really nice, even if you don't throw parties. For people complaining about noise and partying on the weekends, what do you expect' You're living in a college town in apartments that are 99% full of college students. No matter what complex you live in, there will be some noisy parties on the weekends.

Parking can be a hassle for a handful of buildings, especially at the top of the hill. Most of the apartment buildings have parking in front and either beside or behind, but the 3 or 4 buildings at the top only have parking in front. It's really not that big of a deal though, I've rarely had to park more than a building away.

The one thing I would mention is that they are still kinda slow when it comes to cleaning off the ice. Last year (05-06) was terrible, the ice would stay in the parking lot for days or up to a week, but they were better about it this year (06-07).

I think most JMU students realize that Sunchase is probably the nicest apartments around, but I'd put Stone Gate at 2nd, definitely a step above the Commons or Ashby.
