I moved in ARCHSTONE DULLES last year.
Seeing the surroundings,greenery i was very much attracted.But unfortunately- As people say "LOOKS ALWAYS FAILS" I faced the samething here.
There are plenty of problems to list out ,f ew of them are .
1.NO PROPER SEWAGE SYSTEM: The sewage system is bad.Rest rooms always blocks.You have run around the management to clear the sewage blockage.

2.COCKROACHES!!! Y A C K in the kitchen.
Complained many times.Once they came and spread some disinfectant.But it is nonresistant to cockroaches.Infact they increased double-probably they like it.
Frustrating!!!!

3.No Proper pipeline: the water from the top floor flows to the ground .No closed pipeline system.You can hear the waterfall sound daily in the morning from 7 AM to 9AM.
WOW!! no need a summer vacation for a scenic waterfall--you have it here.

4. CARPETS STINKS and smells bad.

5. The community GYM is bad when compared to other communities.No proper Maintenance of the equipment.

6. Towing of vehicle is more.

7. The secured Gates always open.Probably they are very insecured.

And onething i liked about ARCHSTONE DULLES , HERNDON is the LEASING OFFICE .
Whenever I complained about this and asked about transferring lease agreement to another apartment in the same community - Not to my surprise I got the answer " Sorry! at this period of time there are no vacant apartments.YOu have to wait for 3-4 months.The cost will be slightly 300-400 bucks more"
Its a bitter experience for me in here.

I live here too and I gotta tell ya, I have not had ANY of the problems you are talking about. The parking here stinks but you did not mention that. The towing you mentioned, well stay out of other peoples parking spots and maybe that would not happen? The gym is not the best in the world but it is far from the worst, I'd say average. Have not seen any roches. Everyone at the office seems nice, not super, but better than I have had to put up with at other places. Have not encountered the plumbing promblems either. Are you sure you live in Archstone Dulles? It's not the Ritz but it's not what you said either.

I have to say this "Goodguy2006" is full of #$@$! He's talking about the wrong place, I've lived here for 2 years and haven't had any issues and is very clean and safe. No bugs and no noisy people. The only problem is parking and the gym could use some work. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I'd live here forever too if only the dame rent didn't always have to increase, sheesh! it is expensive for such a small place, well on I go to venture into another neighborhood...hope it's as quiet and as safe as this one was.

Original poster is full of it. As far as the anonymous poster he is correct. The parking here sucks and the gym definetly needs to be bigger. Other than that I haven't seen a better apartment complex in Northern VA. If you can afford it by all means RENT HERE! As far as the water pipelines. 90% of water flows top to bottom. This is even true in houses. So I don't know what this dude is smoking.
