The office staff is run by a manager who is regularly absent, and the rare times that she is in, she is like a pit bull as far as diplomacy goes. She should not be in a managerial position.

First of all, my neighbors are from India, and they are unfamiliar with how to inform the office properly that there may be a pest control issue. They asked the office to please come and check to see whether there were bed-bugs. The office manager acted min a racist way with the young man, saying that maybe his new wife had brought the bedbugs with them from India., and instead of having someone come to look at the apartment, the manager told them they would have to pay $500 to have someone come and de-infest their apartment.

The young man was, of course, insulted, saying that they did not have any bedbugs in India and he was not even sure that they had them! His wife had simply been bitten on the arm, and they were unsure if she got a mosquito bite or if there were bed bugs or something else in the apartment they had just rented.

The manager called him an IDIOT, if you can believe that! And there were several others there with her, so he was doubly humiliated, embarrassed and insulted. When he said he would get his own pest control person to come to do the job, and refused to pay the office $500, she said, You can either pay $500 or $2,000 take your pick. this borders on extortion in my estimation.

He came back to the apartment, and knocked on my door. I went inside to see if I could see any problem. I could not. No one came to the apartment for several days. On Friday, they were informed that someone from Orkin Pest control would be coming over the weekend. The man showed up with an Orkin car, but not with any Orkin clothing. He went inside the bedroom, told them to go out, and he remained in there a couple of minutes.

He did not spray anything, because they could have heard the equipment, and they were listening through the door. When he came out, he told them there was one egg from a bed bug. He said that he sprayed it.

They went on Monday to their own person, and I also called Orkin on Monday myself to ask what the charges were to do an entire one bedroom house, and what the procedure was. Orkin told me that the cost was $200, and that they would spray the entire house, as the bugs could have spread to other rooms and furniture. I asked about the procedure for one egg under a bed, and was told it would be the same.

The people my neighbors had called, actually showed up over the weekend and said that there was no evidence whatsoever of any eggs or bed bugs. They also said that if he said he sprayed in the bedroom, he was lying, since he would have had to spray the entire apartment.

The office charged them $400 for this service. I believe the office manager made $200 off the deal, and the Orkin guy got $200 that his company never knew about. The reason I believe this is because they should have taken care of it right away, but instead waited until the weekend to have the man come. I believe it was a Sunday, but am not sure. He did NOT appear to be going to other assignments, that is for sure.

These same people asked for their air conditioning to be turned on, and nothing happened for days (the young girl was pregnant and suffering from heat a lot.) Absolutely nothing happened until I went with the man to the office and asked why no work order had been done for them on this, and that she was pregnant and that it was a matter of health. Within an hour the maintenance came and discovered that there was no Freon in the air conditioning unit, and consequently put in Freon.

Was it oo much for them to check the air conditioning to see if ebverything was working when they moved in' They moved in in JUNE. You would think the air conditioner would have been a routine part of the pre-rental final apartment check.

I see that the only thing the management has to say for itself is that they are wonderful and such things never happened, although I can attest that the facts happened as stated. And no names were mentioned here. The people were present, and the management told me in the last few days that I "could not prove what was said in the event they wanted to change the circumstances of what occurreed." CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT ONE? It happened. Don't rent here, believe me. These people are really shiesters.

I am currently a resident at Ashford Meadows and the management office is at a lot of times very unprofessional. The rules of the contract do not apply to certain individuals living in the complex (not limited to employees/employees' friends/acquintances). If you have options, stay away from here.
