I just signed a lease for a second year and am perfectly happy here. I work locally but commute home to spouse in another state on the weekend. I do not hear or rarely hear the people immediately around me even though some have children or dogs. I have return home at least one night a week around midnight and sometimes have to park a ways from my unit (and carry luggage) but I used to live at a big building near the Pentagon and had to walk at least that far frequently. I feel safe walking from my car late at night. Carrying lots of groceries a distance would be a pain, but I have only had to park far from my unit when arriving after 10 p.m. I found the maintenance people very helpful in the days following a snow storm, getting me out of an iced over parking spot and NOT accepting a tip.

What I understand about the pool this summer is that the lifeguarding, etc., is contracted out and the Dulles Greene management apparently was very dissatisfied with the service. My daughter (age 25 and a former lifeguard herself) found a lifeguard asleep one time on duty. We were not the first to complain, and the management spoke with the pool company a number of times apparently to address the problem.

Regarding those complaining about fees for late payment of rent: read the contract! I checked over the second year lease page by page to make sure I was aware of any changes. I pay rent in person (even if it is inconvenient for my work week) and get a receipt in case the check is lost. I know what all the penalties are because I read the contract and all the apartment rules.

Guest parking: one can get a guest pass (limited number) that allows them to park in non-visitor spots. Otherwise they park in visitor spots that are mostly scattered except for a number together in one area. Less convenient than open parking, but having only a couple guests at a time, I have found no problem.

Buddybean, you must be referring to ---. She's the parking pass ---- and is the one who normally answers the phone. She also acts as a buffer between you and both ------- (property manager) and ----- (leasing manager). I am not sure either of the two managers realize how bad things are from a tenant's point of view. I would absolutely love to call corporate. Do you have the # available?

Buddybean, I do live here, and I rented here having read all the ratings for Dulles Greene and others in Fairfax County. I sorted out what were serious problems (bugs, noise, poor security, poor construction or maintenance) from personal complaints about fees and staff that might be more subjective. --- is the person who usually gives me my receipt for rent, and I have gotten parking passes from her. When signing the new lease with -----, we talked about the problems with the pool this summer. And --- is not the only woman in the office with an ------. What's obvious is that you can't imagine anyone being pleased with living here.

Well I am a resident going on 2 years now and my car was recently vandalised on site. Oh the horror! I woke up early on a Saturday morning intending to run some errands and I was stunned to find my rear windshield smashed by god-only-knows-who, why and when; since the very same --- was not helpful when I walked to their offices to complain. She did not even attempt to take down my information for their incident tracking report; she informed me that they did not maintain one. Shock upon horror! The only thing she reminded me to do was save the blerrie parking sticker or I would be charged $35 for a new one. Well I did just that and delievered my rear windshield in a bag to the office. Meet up w/ a very nice staff member and she took all my info down and commisserated w/ me and promised to post signs up warning residents/guest to be careful when entertaining. The signs are yet to go up but at least SOMEONE CARED.....she must be new.
