I read a few of the reviews and a number of the threads contained within them and I have to say the only thing I agree with are the comments on the staff. Really, I've only had problems with two ladies on the team - everyone else has been more than gracious. Fortunately, I've not had to deal much with management to begin with, so I must have it better than many other tenants.

Other than a few personality issues (it's kinda like DMV - if you don't like people, don't take a job that consists entirely of customer service), I think living at Dulles Greene is great. Granted, the walls are thin, but that comes with the territory. I imagine if I had selected a place that was older (and I didn't want to), I'd have the luxury of concrete walls to muffle any sounds my neighbors might make.

As for the appliances, my stuff runs fine. I've been in my apartment for 7 months now and haven't had any problems. Again, I guess I've been lucky. When I moved in, I had brand new carpet on the floor and paint on the walls. My place was squeaky clean and I was incredibly impressed. I've never had a bug problem, only spiders and only a few every now and then, and I live fairly close to a wooded area.

I can't offer any substance to the parking issue as I have an attached garage (I'm lovin' it!).

Bottom line: I pay about $300 more (I have a two bed/two bath apt) than my boyfriend who lives in Arlington and has a smallish one bed/one bath apartment and has to drive around to find parking. I'm happy with Dulles Greene. It's in a great location and the neighborhood is safe and quiet.

Despite my negative replies throughout, I don't honestly believe my experiences represent the vast majority of cases. It's nice to see the other side. I don't necessarily expect that the "likelihood of a problem" is any higher at Dulles Green, merely that any problem seems to require far too much work to get dealt with. If you don't have too many problems to start with (and depending on schedule, location within the community, and variables I can't even speculate on this may be wildly varying), I expect this is a good place to be. I've found the tenants themselves to be charming and thoughtful (except for the ones who insist on throwing cigarette butts off their balcony and lighting the grass on fire) and the prices are in fact reasonable-to-good with generally clean and new-ish rooms. If your needs are pretty middle-of-the-road and you don't get unlucky, this place can be home. If you're atypical in some regard (two roommates both with cars), come home late evening in a crowded corner of the lot, have frequent guests for multiple days, or such then you may have a higher risk of problems. My irritation is continuously that any "problem" becomes a truly arduous endeavor to fix.

I too had a good experience in the beginning. I also had an attached garage but still got a tow when I had an extra car parked behind by garage even though it was pulled all the way up. It is predatory towing and a scam, Every night there are open parking spaces that no one is allowed to use and yet nearly every night someone gets towed. No one calls the tow truck, they drive around at the wee hours of the morning looking for trouble. I had a terrible ant problem and they could not seem to fix it. I kept my apt. spotless and did not leave any food out. Our disposal was fixed about three times before they finally gave us a new one. the apt itself I liked, a few of the staff are okay. The pool staff was not so great, but enjoy it is a good place in many ways
