First the positives:
1. There's a nice view from our windows
2. Maintenance responds pretty quickly
3. Apt. very clean upon move-in
4. Not too noisy

Now, the bad:
1. Kitchen cabinets don't match. Some are white ,some bone, some off white. We complained but no one seems to care.
2. Toilets seem to back up all the time.
3. Office staff okay but not great.
4. Lights in parking lots off all the time.
5. Trash dumpster a DISASTER. It is always full and leaking out garbage onto the sidewalk, THEN they tell us we will be charged $50 for each bag not in the dumpster. What' They're going to root through the trash to see if they find anything with our address or name on it' HA! We have a shredder. Good luck looking through my SH**.
6. The place looks dated already. The kitchens are white on white (or bone, in our case) and hard to keep clean. Someone on here said the bathrooms are huge. I beg to differ. They are teeny tiny and also WHITE.
7. No one ever changes the air filters.
8. I don't think of myself as racist, however, there are 10,000 Indian people here who work close by and walk in the middle of the street at all hours.
9. This place is way too expensive. People in Reston have lower mortgages.
10. The washer and dryer SUCK and are too small.
11. Our oven is crooked and tends too overheat and set off the smoke alarm.
12. When it snows a plow comes around and creates a huge snow mountain behind your car.
13. Neighbors do not speak English
14. Don't ever be late on your car's inspection or tags or they will come around the 1st of the month and give you a neon green sticker telling you the car will be towed.
15. Oh, P.S. Someone blew up another person's car in the parking lot last year. The car was totalled and the fire department had to come put it out. No one could give me a straight answer on what happened Gangs'

I agree with you 100%! Everything you said is absolutely true, and there are somethings you forgot such as the roaches! I don't know if you have a roach problem, but I do and have had it since I moved in, over a year ago. I keep my apartment very clean and there should be no reason I have them, but I do. I had to insist the office have the exterminator do not only my apt. but the whole building to get rid of them (duh!). That worked for about 2 months but then they came back, when they don't do the whole building the bugs only stay away about 1 month. It is so gross, I pay way much to live here to deal with roaches and all the other stuff that goes on here. Archstone has a lot of money, can't they do something more to get rid of the roaches forever instead of just a temporary fix for a month or to?! I wonder if any of the staff that lives here has roaches in there apt.'s?

was your vinyl flooring stuck to your floor? mine wasn't ...and still isnt... how about the fact that the cabinets are not even PAINTED.. they placed white sheets that appear to have a WHITE painted look... ply board underneath and not stuck very well. water pressure HORRIBLE...can't take a warm shower outside of LATE at night or 4 am...can smell curry throughout the breezeways and in your apartment if you're not so lucky. the indian families (same here, not a racist...but) they dont want to get a house ... so they rent multiple apts and go back and forth like it's one big apt. so sad. Washer and dryer--- HORRIBLE.. I have never seen anything this old before the late 80's --- carpet is CRAP and cheap.garbage i have learned to ignore. if that's possible. but i can say 176 percent .. its the people that are allowed to rent here.they looked for something cheap, and truth be told for RENT around here, you get what you pay for , clearly. do you like koolaid? how about any drink outside of water? don't drip any on your counter... you need bleach to get ANYTHING out the counters are so cheap.im sure i could go on ... but i will leave you with ... anyone that lives on the 4th floor. i hope they have renters insurance, because since the summer rains, the ceiling has been caving in an nothing has been done except a few buckets being places under the leaks when it rains in the breezeways. IE in front of peoples doors or in the way of the stairs. when was summer? oh yeah, 2008. i'm sure there is some code violation for that.thanks a lot archstone. by the way, since equity bought I have tried to get ahold of archstone to add an adendum to my lease so I can still keep the same perk of transferring to any archstone without breaking my lease. for 9 months, my calls and letters have gone unanswered. i will never move to an archstone either. very disappointing.
