I've resided at Camden Lansdowne (was Summit) since mid 2004; all I've got to say is that I can NOT wait until my lease expires this summer!! This place has gone down the tubes!!!

What I've noticed over the past couple of years is overcrowding and deteroriation in terms of the property itself. There are a TON of units here, and it seems as though parking is becoming a minimum. Oh!! and guess what- you better have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to park during the winters (that's if you don't pay an arm and a leg for one of the over-priced garages), because the lot is a total mess. Come see for yourself... today, it took me nearly a 1/2 an hour just to find a spot- and that spot is about .25 miles away from my home in the bitter cold.

When I approached the property manager about this issue, she simply stated that it wasn't of her concern and that I was supposed to go to the office and get a "baggie" full of rock salt so I could dig a space out. There's also ice on the stairs (still), so hopefully nobody will slip and fall. Yes, our area is notorious for being dramatic during bad weather.. but enough is enough!

In regards to the staff... well, they need a little coaching on their customer service skills.

The walls are paper thin... I can hear the people under me having "relations" and even taking a whiz!!! It's awful!!! Plus, if you even dare to walk too heavy on your feet, you better believe that somebody will be complaining.

Quite often I've found a pile of dog crap in the breezeway or on the stairs. Lately I've noticed more trash also in the breezeways; it makes this place look run-down.

The parking situation is AWFUL.. even when the weather is nice. Like I said, this place is way overcrowded and I've noticed that there are a lot of guests using resident spaces. Although the tow truck WILL tow your car (it's a major pain if you ever have friends over), parking's still a problem.

The trash compactors are often full and overfilling, and get this- management will dig through your trash in order to find out if you placed your bag outside of the compactor- although it's their fault it's full!! If you're caught, you're fined.. big time.

Don't even think about moving here if you work towards the city; Route 7 has quickly become a nightmare both in the morning and evenings. Rush hour seems to last longer each month.

Ok, and to be fair.. here are some pluses:

The price.. well, for now. Somehow (and management told me this)... I got a really good deal on my place. However, I'm sure once my lease expires it's going to increase by at least $500. But I guess these places are cheaper than others, but the time and gas you'll be traveling into the city will surely make up for it (that's unless of course you go into Leesburg, often)

The maintenance staff is WONDERFUL... they're very sweet and helpful.

There are three pools and two work out facilities; although the equipment in the work out rooms is sometimes broken (due to lack of care), it's a decent facility. Plus, there's a Gold's Gym right up the street if you really like to work out.

A new shopping center called Lansdowne Town Center was built right up the street this past year, and it's really nice; there are a ton of restaurants and a grocery store there- and it's definitely within walking distance. however, I'm sure this is going to impact the rental rates.

Oh, and if you're wondering why I'm still here.. .well, if you try to break your lease, it's that month's rent plus two months at market price. Fun stuff!
