Faded glory

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2005
Some sour moments aside, overall I've enjoyed my three and a half years. The quality of management and staff have fluctuated, but at the moment seems to be on an upswing. I've had absolutely no problems with crime, and I've never felt unsafe. The property itself is spacious and well kept, and the apartments are surprisingly well constructed. This must have been a luxury property maybe 15 years ago.
But things change... Construction is a constant problem. Outside noise is bad, and dumpsters being emptied at 6:00am is never pleasant. Management seems to be trying to fix that problem, but with limited success. Unfortunately management does a generally poor job of communicating -- I've never once had a phone message returned.
As for the area, Lorton itself is growing rapidly, but it still is a boring bedroom community. The new Lorton Station area might be a nice destination -- but expect prices to rise quickly.
Overall, I would recommend The Woods as a good value. For those don't want to pay the higher prices of Alexandria, or who don't want the extra 30 minute drive to Woodbridge in rush hour, it's a good fit. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
