I have lived here since september of 2002 and have never had any major problems. However, a lot has changed since the old management left. The buildings are definately prettier (the different colors of siding). However, it isn't the same as when it was village square. The old management was very friendly and made you feel right at home. They also cared for your safety, at least that was the case for me. I also knew most of my neighbors who were very friendly. The only problem was with some teenage kids being loud and rowdy at 2 in the morning, but I can sleep through a storm, so it didn't really pose a problem for me. The new management is friendly, but it just isn't the same. Also, Brentwood has been changed to accomodate lower income housing, so if you make more than 37.5K you have to move out. I am one of those above the limits. I can't really complain, as they are giving some aid to those in the same situation I am in to move. Also, I may end up finding something even nicer, and closer to work. I looked at Raven's Crest the other day, and was quite impressed with the facilities, overall. Definately nicer than here, but the rent is higher, too. Also the trash situation has improved a lot, but that could be partly due to the fact that a lot of people have vacated the property, so there is less littering as a result. The area is overall safe, I have seen the cops here many times, but in most cases it was to break up a party that was too loud. The comments about prostitution, they must have been living on Bruton Parish Ct, it is a little sketchy there. But Devonshire is basically not that bad. I have walked to the 7-11 down the block many times at 2 or 3 in the morning with no problems, and I am a single female. It is, however, wise to stay alert, as you never know these days.
