Pretty Good So Far

I moved to Haverhill in the spring of 2007 and have been pleaed with my experience here. In fact, I recently renewed my lease to stay for another year.
First, the apartment itself...I live in a one-bed/one-bath unit on the first floor. The floorplan is open, bright, and well-lit. I haven't had any measurable issues with the appliances or fixtures. I suppose this is because my unit had never been lived in before. Closet space is plentiful and this is also the first apartment I've lived in with full size washer/dryer and natural gas. After about 9 months, I cannot recall filing any complaints with management about anything with my unit.
The management staff are friendly and courteous. I sometimes wish that the office was open later than 6pm because of my work schedule and having to pick up packages at times. The community itself is clean, well kept, and feels very safe. Parking is also plentiful. I cannot comment on the other amenities...i.e. clubhouse, pool, gym because I honestly don't use them.
Some minor criticisms:
-If you're wanting to move into a gated community, you may have complaints here about the gates being broken or unlocked for extended periods of time. I really didn't move here for the gate, so it doesn't bother me that much.
-Trash collection is lacking and Manassas Park does not have a dedicated city-wide trash service or local dump. The compactors overflow occassionally and large pieces of furniture are often left on the curb.
-The trains can be noisy at times, particularly for the units closest to the station. This is usually only an issue during weekday daytime hours (when most are at work). Otherwise, it is very quiet here.
-This is a very hilly development with steep driveways and sharp curves. I haven't been here during a major snow/ice event, but I imagine these streets are treacherous without proper plowing and de-icing.
-If you are hoping for a walkable community, this isn't it (except for the VRE station). There are no grocery stores or other conveniences located within walking distance. There are some storefronts going up across the tracks, but it is unknown what those will be or when they'll be open.
In summary, my time at Haverhill has been very positive so far. I recommend this community to anyone.
My two cents.
