I moved to Haverhill a few months ago because they're new and I wanted a nice place to live. My old place was a dumpy townhouse and management was shotgunning nasty-grams to the residents every few weeks and I felt more like an inmate. I've absolutely loved it here - close to the VRE, and close to TONS of nice places to eat. But today I come home to a letter saying they've gotten "several" reports of trash and cigarette butts being thrown from my balcony, and if I don't stop, they'll fine me $25 per cigarette butt, and a copy was going in my resident file. I don't even smoke!!! I haven't gone out on my little balcony but two or three times, and I've NEVER thrown anything off of it - and they tell me they're going to rack up all these fines against me. WTF''!'! How about treating me like the responsible adult I am and confront me with the allegations so I can at least defend myself. I'm so outraged. I've already started drafting the earliest move-out notice they've ever seen - about 9 months prior notice. And I'm thinking of small claims court for emotional distress and punitive damages. All I wanted was a nice place to leave and just be left alone - but here come the nastygrams. I'm so over the greater DC area.

I used to live in Haverhill and we would receive letters for noise violations for days we weren't even home. You need to move to Manassas Meadows. The management is fabulous, and it is significantly cheaper.

Okay, I'm a firm believer that if you're going to critcize, you have to praise as well. Haverhill Management contacted me today and said the wrong letter was sent out, and it should have been the general reminder to residents about keeping the grounds neat, not tossing trash about, etc., which is understandable when unknown residents fail to act like decent human beings. So, I'm back in love with living here at Haverhill, and my 5-minute walk to the VRE station and being able to nap, relax, or read during my commute nearly to the doorstep of my job. But, thanks for the tip on Manassas Meadows - I'll keep that in my hip pocket. :)
