On the fence

We looked into this complex when the only thing standing was the rental office - three months prior to our original expected move-in date. They touted the 9' ceilings and cathedral ceilings in the 3rd floor units and the wonderful gated entry, fitness area, business center and garages. We were to move into the first building that was completed, but when I got a confirmation letter, they had tacked on an extra $20/month because we had a pool view (which we didn't ask for). When I protested, they moved us to another building without a view (except of another building, but we didn't have to pay for that!), which was supposed to be open a week later... that turned into 3-4 weeks. Thankfully, for the inconvenience we were given the next month's rent free.
The living room is fairly spacious, but not well laid out for furniture based on the the half wall, door locations and sliding-glass door to the patio. The bedrooms are quite small and the master BR has no door between the closet and bathroom - apparently they feel it's OK to look at the person on the toilet while you are picking out your clothes! The first nite we tried to start a load of dishes and the dishwasher flooded the entire kitchen - thankfully we heard it and stopped it before it ruined anything, unlike our unfortunate neighbor who had the same problem but was at the store, so it flooded nearly his entire dining and living room the day he moved in. Then came the washing machine - nice size, but the people who installed it didn't adjust the shipping belt and it proceeded to move across the floor and was completely off-balance. We then had a roof leak from the first major rain, causing the stucco ceiling to fall down in places. I called to get it fixed and it took over 6 weeks of continued calling & promises by the office to get it fixed. Upon move in, all of the doors shut properly, now only 50% do (after a few short months this started - we were told it's the new building settling and nothing was done). The front door had to have repeated weather stripping added to get a seal since it's warped. The one bedroom is always 10 degrees colder than the living room and the other bedroom is always 10 degrees warmer than the living room - we were told that it's just because of the one room being on the outside and the other backing up to another apartment - great insulation for a brand new complex.
The gates didn't work until exactly 12 months after we moved in - but that makes little difference, they don't work 40% of the time and if someone wants to get in, the fence was never completely put around the complex. In the last 15 months, there have been at least 4 new staff members in the office, none of the original people are even there anymore.
It's a shame because it's a Bozzuto community which is supposed to be top notch, but both this one and the prior Bozzuto community I lived in about 2 miles from this one have yet to prove to be as great as they claim.

I'm a little confused - what Bozzuto community about two miles away? There isn't one listed on the Bozzuto Web site. Also, did you ask about the fence along Godwin? I did and got a reasonable response.

I was told Due to Prince William zoning issues, Bozutto had to remove the fence that was along the property side of Godwin.
