Horrible Management

Management does not respond in a timely fashion to maintenance including the items it specifically deems an "emergency" in the lease. Very unfriendly and never seem to want to help residents. We've had problems since day 1.
Just to elaborate on some of the other reviews. I'm on the 3rd floor and have the same problems with a warped front door. No point in turning on the heat it goes out under the front door. The washing machine doesn't stay in place and is off-balance. Paint looks beautiful but on corners is chipping off. First week we were here we had no hot water and it took them over a week to get that fixed. As for the complex being safe...our car was broken into in the middle of the day. Nothing was taken out of it but we asked management to send notices to neighbors to make them aware so they would lock their doors, it never happened. We moved in back in March 05 and the gates weren't working for about a year. The advertisements said they had a car care center, that wasn't up for a year either even though we paid $250 for amenities. No point in having gates in the front, people wait and piggy back off each other if they aren't trying to go in the exit gate when people leave. The kids leave large tree branches in the road by the front gate when they aren't in the community center looking at inappropriate material on the community computers. When we moved in they promised to pressurewash our balcony because it was filthy, that didn't get done for a year and even then they said they may not be able to do it because of my neighbors below me. If they would have done it in the first place there weren't neighbors below us yet to worry about :). When we moved in they had a 24-hour guarantee for responses to maintenance requests. Since then they have taken it out. They have responded within that given time frame maybe once since I have been here. Can't wait for my lease to be up.
And then the trains. The train tracks run right next to the apartments. And the whistle blows every time they come through which is at least once every 2 hours, including 2:00 a.m.
And the street lights in front of our building went out around Thanksgiving but they didn't fix them until after Christmas. Definitely not a safe environment when you have to leave for work when it's still dark outside.
I would suggest anywhere but this complex. For the money, I expected much better service.

I never said the car door was unlocked. It's a rather rare car and the doors are NEVER unlocked. Like you said, I live in the National Capitol Area and know better. They slim-jimmed the lock and therefore the door handle is broken. I asked management to let people know not to leave their doors unlocked because when people move into this area, they are often moving from quite neighborhoods elsewhere around the country. And some people are old fashioned and just trust people. I'm not one of those people, I lock my doors and roll up my windows.

Wait a minute ... your car door was unlocked? Then it wasn't a break in, it was a burglary. Who lives in the National Capitol Area and leaves their car doors unlocked?

To the numbnuts(laura999)...It doesn't even take common sense to read this..."As for the complex being safe...our car was broken into in the middle of the day". Broken into means it was NOT unlocked. Elementary school, you should try it before posting again.

Okay, I moved in May 05. The gates were working before the end of 2005. They weren't done with construction, what did you expect. I have had zero problems. Everyone has been nice in the office and they always quickly fixed my problems.

Heck, most people in the office know me by face. I make a point of making myself seen and dropping off rent in person. I've had no security issues either and considering the stuff I've seen on the other side of the gates...this place is a lot safer.
