I tire so quickly of people who come on these sites and ----- and moan about the management, or the property. It always seems to be people who are telling 80% of the story....as follows....."The management was completely rude and was not helpful!" (Translation - I was four weeks late with the rent and the management wanted their money). "The management was always hassling me, and never dealing with the major parking problem!" (Translation - they wanted me to clean all the crap off my deck that looked like Fred Sanford's garage)
Look people, there are certain deals you have to make with yourself when living in an apartment building with 35 other families. If you want a nice neighborhood, take a little action yourself. Put those two bags of trash that some slob just dumped next to the dumpster in the can. When you find that empty case of beer in the middle of the lot, throw it away. Don't call the management and complain right away. What are they going to do' Conduct an inquiry to all tenants as to who drinks Bud Light in a can' Pitch in. You have as much to do with the quality of your community as they do. As for me, I've been a tenant here for a year and a half. Guess what' I've had our furnace blow, the dishwasher made too much noise and didn't clean dishes very well, and the washer/dryer stack was all gacked up - the basin in the washer was off its support (sounded like I was washing bowling balls) and the timer to the dryer was shot. In each instance, while it may have taken two to three calls, every appliance was replaced with a new one. Now there can be no complaint about that.
I have enjoyed living here, the location is great - right around the corner from any shopping need you may have, it is in a brand new elementary school's district (Ellis), and has a lot of area for kids to play. I will have to be leaving soon because I'll need three bedrooms and Tanglewood doesn't have them (bummer)but will always think well of our time here.
Price is not bad for what you get (and I know - I have apartment shopped ALL throughout NOVA) If you aren't a yahoo, don't mind paying your rent on time (and they actually helped me on the two occasions I had a problem) I think you'll like it. If you are a yahoo, well,.......go somewhere else.

It's funny that the people who pick up after themselves are considered the "yahoos" and not the people who create the mess. I'm looking on this site, because we will be moving to the area soon. You're right, if there is there is an empty beer case laying around, the management shouldn't have to take a poll to see who drinks Bud Light . . . they should pick it up. I'm not a janitor. The complex I live in has a grounds person who does just that. He walks the complex and picks up garbage. Luckily, we live amongst people who aren't pigs. So, he is really only picking up small things that might blow into the complex. I get your point that a community is what you make it, but why not lash out at the people who create the mess, not the ones who feel they shouldn't have to put up with it. After all, an adult should be able to put his or her own trash into the dumpster, not wait for me to do it.

I too agree; however, most apartment complexes in NOVA who keep their grounds clean and keep their tenants reasonably happy, cost soooooo much more. And guess what, most of the tenants who live in those more expensive complexes are not picking up after others and sometimes themselves because that's not their "job". Personally, if it is my mess, I clean it up because I am an adult. Just my two cents.
